Trans Tasman amended no-show policy 14 October 2010
Qantas has today announced amendments to the no-show rule on Red e-Deal fares from Australia to New Zealand.

For new bookings made from the 15th October 2010, fare rules will be updated with this new condition. If the customer no-shows, the coupon will no longer be valid for travel nor can the value be used towards another ticket (fare cannot be held in credit)

I thought this was the case previously?? Were QF allowing a credit to be issued even on red e-deal no shows previously - I thought it would only get a credit (minus fee) if cancelled >24hrs pre-flight?

I thought this was the case all along, i.e. Red e-Deal No Show After Departure = loss of fare.

I have a feeling some fare rules could be differently interpreted from that intended.

This would be to clarify those situations.

The trans-tasman conditions ex Aus had the clause omitted until last Friday, note it still applies for fares purchased ex NZ:

Cancellations (including no show)
  • No refund permitted at any time.
  • Before the day of ticketed departure:
    • The fare may be used as credit towards a higher fare, provided the higher fare conditions have been met.
    • A change fee of NZD100 per person applies.
    • If the new fare is cancelled the original cancellation conditions will apply.
  • On the day of ticketed departure:
    • The fare may be used as a credit towards a higher fare. The fare difference and change fee of NZD100 per person will apply.

Domestically this is the case, but I don't recall it being specified on international fares. No show fell under cancellation rules which allowed it to be used as a credit.
