No of Nights Members Stay in a Year

Last calendar year was a bit silly for me; 158 nights away from home.

This year's a bit better - almost the end of July and only 56 night's away (currently in India with another 5 nights to go, so 61 nights by the time I get home..) :(

A measly 29 qualifying nights YTD in PC - although i average about 100-130 nights on the road each year for the last few years. A mix of brands, apartments, staying with friends and long term rentals. I would realistically expect to hit around 50-80 qualifying PC nights this year but i'm not really sure.

As I thought, there are a lot of people on here with a lot of nights per year spent in Hotels.

In terms of IC Hotels, I wonder how we rate in terms of top guests per year. Surely we must be amongst the top 5% ?

I was also thinking that there must be a few industries where it is normal to spend that many nights in hotels - Take International Air crew for instance. When you think of companies like Boeing etc, I know they have a lot of people almost living full time in hotels

One thing that surprised me was seeing the number of Airbus staff taking flights from TLS airport on the day I was there (I was there dropping Bundy Bear to his BA flight to LHR in June), so I suppose SEA would be there same for Boeing.

Likewise, I am not at all surprised that there are a number of us here (not me) that spend serious time away from home (and family) in hotel rooms or apartments. I don't envy that at all, I now miss my kids on a 2 night trip to PER. Everywhere else I keep to 1 night away. I am also lucky to have my wife send me photo's on my iPhone of the kids every day I'm away, so I don't miss everything.

I know what you mean - I have to spend time on longer trips. Recent additions to my travel items - An Apple Airport Express, and Ipad2, have helped a lot with keeping in contact with the family. Facetime works really well, and is so much more personal than just a phone call

I qualified for RA a few times (i.e. not a sponsored RA). It's rumoured that's in the top 1% of PC (based on stays).

I'll need to upgrade my wife's iPhone from 3GS to 4 for that, wouldn't I (or my daughters 3G to 4)? Oh, that could be nice to have, but not doubt will add to the expense. Still, cheaper than a divorce

I do not use iphone at all. I just use the ipad2 in hotel room, and connect to my daughters Mac Book at home. I would imagine the iphone screen would be too small anyway

Ah, doing it your way would require me to have an iPad and my daughter to have a Mac - neither of which are likely anytime soon .

Now, back to our hotel rooms (well, not for me tonight)

I think ausnew was talking about us collectively Austman. It certainly would be interesting to see how many nights we all had for 2010 and see the %. I'd think that given the number of Plats members, that we'd rate well.

Yes, RA is an invitation only (or referral) and I know a number here on AFF & FT. I'm actually glad I'm not one (the earned variety), but I'm always willing to give it a go as a referred person. One day, I may very well raid the minibar with an RA and see what fun that could be...

Oops - me bad.

As far as the free minibar is concerned, some were good (Sydney IC comes to mind). Some were rubbish (Bali IC comes to mind) and some refused to do it (Stockholm and Bahrain ICs come to mind). I don't miss it much really.

IC Melbourne is not bad either, ADL is OK, PER sucks and I never leave the Moet untouched in SYD. Have to laugh when SYD give you a bottle of wine as the welcome gift! Getting the club upgrade at SYD is better than any mini bar, wonder how many I can get in Saturday night after the F lounge run?

I'd be somewhere between 60 - 70Most annoying thing for me is when I do a week long trip, staying at a different place each night, they each take a $100 hold on your cc and dont refund it right away when you check out...then for the next week, i've got around $600 - $700 held on my cc!
I find this very annoying with hotels, too. Whenever I check-in to a hotel now I giv them a separate credit card for the surety or incidentals. I purely use this card for that purpose (it's my Hilton Macquarie card, the one I was 'forced' to get). If I have any charges when I check-out, I give them a card I want to use for charges so I can keep very good track of what I have actually spent.

Not that I've ever had troubles but that is an excellent way of defeating the problem

Maybe my Macquarie card does have a use after all...

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app

...or put it on a charge card, rather than a credit card. There it can languish around.

Total nights last year around 40, YTD this year around 30. Currently have 20 booked for the rest of the year, with more to come when my AMB membership pack arrives :)

Low stays for me compared to most, I owe my status to these forums ;-) Not bad numbers for a solo mama though ;-)

At the end of this week, I'll be on 46 days since April after choosing Priority Club over A|Club.

I just wish there was a decent choice in Brisbane, the Holiday Inn seems to be out of my budget so I'm back to the Novotel for the next 2 weeks. Other than that, I always seem to find an IHG hotel at an affordable price wherever I go.

You should be on Priority Privilege rates at least, or Family and Friends?
