Having read some of the posts, it seems a lot of members stay an awful lot of nights in these hotels every year.

I was just curious to see how many on average ?
The amount of points balance some of you guys have must be amazing :D

Having just looked, I have stayed 86 nights so far in 2011

I trust you are an RA with that number?

I am away app 100 nights a year...

I have a few favourite hotels.

Most of them are not part of some big chains.

Same... About 130 nights a year. Almost never in chains. Mostly smaller like firmdale hotels (firmdale.com)

With their promotions, I have 26 months Platinum with 15 stays in (including 4 awards) total.

It's my secondary program, HHonors has better defined benefits for me ...

... however it has usurped Accor as my secondary program ...

I think last year I had over 80 credited to PC. Should have been able to make RA, but had no IC stays. (Majority were HI, with a few HIX, CP and other assorted brands).

This year I'm up to 40 nights so far, don't expect it to climb too much higher. Perhaps about 60 in total.

I'd be somewhere between 60 - 70

Most annoying thing for me is when I do a week long trip, staying at a different place each night, they each take a $100 hold on your cc and dont refund it right away when you check out...

then for the next week, i've got around $600 - $700 held on my cc!

I think this year the total, based on current reservations will be around 144 nights just in HI brand. There have been a few others thrown in, like Doubletree in US etc, but the only membership I have is PC
Last year was also around 130 nights

I don't tend to use many points for breaks etc, except for a visit to London 2 years ago, so my points balance is around 1Mil, but luckily the points never expire unlike airlines like SQ :(

I thought I traveled a bit but my paltry 40 nights per year with IHG pales into insignificance in this thread.

QF comes second with 14!

Last year was a mixed bag with around 140 nights away..

My main split was between Priority club and GHA. I have Accor in third.

however around 40 nights were in Delhi for the games so no hotel chain there so I missed out! rats!!

Should I pop my head up and say that I only stay between 20 to 30 per year , but this year looks like being 50+ nights (already at 49 ). PC is back being my main one this year (yay Plat), with HH my second (should retain Gold).

This YTD:

Priority Club (with 2 nights to post)
Qualifying Nights Towards Elite Status in 2011:
17
(and 3 night of an Award stay which is non-qualifying)

Hilton (with 4 nights to post):

Nights Completed: 9

Have had 2 nights at Accor as well, plus 16 nights for accom on my European trip (at Inns/Gites) that don't count anywhere [try as I did to organise, but SWMBO intervened].

Before I retired I would spend 60-70 nights away and nearly all at Hiltons.Since retiring I spend ~200 nights away!Unfortunately most are in apartments or on government rates such as now so no earning.
SPG is primary program now with hhonors secondary.

In 2001-2002 I did >365 nights in hotels (a period over the two years where I was in hotels for around 400 nights in a row). And for over ten years I did more than 150 nights/year in hotels.

There are others here who can compete with that number of nights in a year .... :)

Ouch. I suppose you got to know the staff well if you were at some hotels for any period of time. Similar for the food though

I can relate to that! We have a regular hotel near our main office, some of the people travelling in know all the staff, have their favourite rooms and know the bar menu back to front!

Having said that I have my fav sushi place in Sydney - one of the chefs knows me quite well, always comes up for a chat when i come in.. and they are a Qantas restaurant too!
