Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Dom (no pic needed for you lot...) over Qom and Shiraz over Shiraz in EK 1A today :). (No prospect of either IN those places:oops::rolleyes::mad:).

For those interested, no booze served before takeoff in IKA but bar opens as soon as seat belt sign goes off.

I read that the earth moved just after your departure!

After a dry few days, treated myself with this Beaux Frères Williamette Valley Oregon Pinot we brought back from trip a few years ago.

Lovely drinking. Forrest floor nose, still quite bright and fruity, medium bodied, dark fruits, spice, cloves.

“Beaux Frères is one of the most talked about Oregon wineries, in part because it is co-owned by the world’s most famous wine critic, Robert Parker.

The story began in 1986 when Michael Etzel identified a pig farm in Ribbon Vale as a promising vineyard site, and went into partnership with his brother-in-law Robert Parker with a goal to producing world-class Pinot Noir. The first grapes were harvested in 1990, and in 1991 a third partner, Robert Roy, joined in to help make the venture financially viable and to help them build a winery.”

Really dark in the glass and mrsdrron is never impressed thinking I am doing what Indian PM Desai used to do.But the label was right this had excellent potential for long bottle aging and is probably at peak now.nectar.
Now one from my time a long time ago as a member of the Amex wine club.

#2 Timo Mayer "Dr Mayer" Remstal Rotwein 2013 (Germany) Spatbugunder, Lemberger, Merlot
#3 Smerenie 2013 (Romania). Shiraz, Pinot, Dornfelder
#4 Pittnauer Pannobile 2013 (Austria) Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and St Laurent
#5 Bock red blend 2012 (Hungary) Cabernet, Pinot, Merlot
#6 Wendouree Shiraz Malbec 1994 (Aus)

Everything was exceptional drinking, and trying to guess what each wine showed that none of us knew anything about what goes into making wine!

Day 3 (today) was a large step up.

Disappointingly, the Run Rig was tainted (it wasn’t decanted at the table, but all of us agreed along with the Restaurant Manager and Sommelier that it was gone), so replaced with The Laird at no extra cost.
