!! I'm guessing you are quoting from Sir Halliday's review that I didn't read! It does drink beyond its pay grade, and I can get those descriptors and why he gave it a 97. I was hugely tired last night, so my effort on the tasting note was a bit half-hearted and done in about 4 minutes. Opulent it certainly was. But I didn't get unctuous or grippy tannins - I actually thought it was quite layered on the taste front for such a medium bodied wine. There's definitely the cigar box - that was what I squeezed in as 'oaked spices' as I ran out of word count. I had actually noted cassis, but put down liquorice when writing it up. I think that's a mistake, and will check and correct tonight when I revisit the bottle after a hard week on the Wozza front.

Had this Radio Boca Tempranillo last night at Bar Luca. A bit on the sweet side, like berries, and some spice.

Apparently it's only $15/btl at the bottle shop, it's pretty good value for an everyday wine.

What a generous wine purchase, AnonymousCoward, Katy and I enjoyed at lunch today. On Vivino, my brief note said:

"Lunchtime tipple, so limited notes. But this 2010 Cab Sauv from the Coonawarra was so smooth and in the super premium experience camp. It was actually more approachable than the recent 2005 I had, as blackberries, cassis, chocolate, mint and luxury French oaked spices tantalised the senses. The tannins were silky smooth and extra long, really making this feel special. Drink now or over the next 10 + years. It won't matter. It will surely delight. A Wozza 95/100 (4.2) from me."

If you are looking for a top-end Coonawarra Cab Sauv that will surely impress and that doesn't need a squillion years hidden away, I'd recommend The Tally 2010. Great wine.

Agreed - I tried it at the Coonawarra Roadshow in Adelaide last year, and it was an absolute cracker; drinking beautifully then, but with the class to cellar for a long time. I went straight to Dan Murphy's the following day to grab a couple of bottles!
 
Oakridge 864 (Winery Block, Oakridge Vineyard) Cabernet Sauvignon 2012:
Cassis and dark fruits on the nose, with a hint of mint. Fine tannins, good acidity. 15 months in French Oak, but that's not evident. Medium+ finish. Young compared to the 2010 I drank earlier, structure is good though. CT90

Cape Mentelle Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon (43%), Merlot (33%), Cabernet Franc (24%) 2012. Out at dinner. Popped and poured. Delightful drinking from the get-go. Plums, red fruit, mint. Savoury flavours on the palate mixed with more mixed fruit. The taste is fresh, with fine tannins and good acidity. Medium+ finish. 13.5% alcohol. If you like your lighter right-bank Bordeaux blends, this should be right up your alley. CT91
