Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

The Glenlofty is a much bigger Shiraz than say the Di Fabio. I find it shows a fair bit of tannin and I'm sure it will develop quite nicely if you can convince yourself to put away a few. We all know the price we pay for this, its just a crazy bargain IMHO. I grabbed 2 cases and most of it went to my share buddies.

The two things I'm enjoying tonight:
image.jpgimage.jpg
Has anyone had the 2011 Mount Langi Billi Billi Shiraz? Thoughts? Because this bottle is a Pinot Noir. It's light in both colour and taste. Dan's says it's supposed to be a full bodied red. This couldn't be further from that?

could Pinot have found its way into a Shiraz bottle? Could a Shiraz label have ended up on a Pinot?

and for the avoidance of doubt it's a great Pinot... Really nice. But this bottle sure ain't a Shiraz.

Thanks. Bug**r. I keep doing that. I do in fact mean the Mornington Peninsular. South of Melbourne past Frankston... :)

PPE sounds intrusting for lunch. I've also heard good things about restaurants at Paringa ad 10X.

RealTMA, you really need to come to Victoria more often!
Foxeys hangout is cool... but depends on your taste :)

For lunch today with friends who are all from Europe (or spent quite some time there):

Edited to add: We had the Tempranillo and whilst I was expecting it to be oak driven, I was wrong. Very little nose and a soft, short palate - great drinking with a steak & sausages plus salad - finished it just before the Pavlova for dessert :)

Thinking of a trip to the Yarra Valley on a Sunday towards end of September.

What wineries do people suggest? Paringa, 10X, Crittenden, ... And?

Ed: Actually I meant to write Mornington Peninsular, NOT YV.

Scorpo, Port Phillip Estate.

In trying my first bottle of Glenlofty Shiraz tonight while I am curing my wood fired oven. I like it, I think it is a bargain for the price paid. Naturally it is nothing like the SV, maybe I am easy to please but I like both :)

Cracked a Tintara Cab Sav 2010 tonight. First time I've had this one and it's impressing so far.

My first post in this thread so thought I would offer an opinion and also ask one.

I recently bought some of the Kemenys 1960 Leconfield 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon. Absolute stand out wine, I loved it and immediately bought more. Also grabbed some 1960 Gemtree but have not tried that yet.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Lindemans 2012 St George? Never tried it but the specials thrown around at the moment for the $30 mark have me interested. Unfortunately I can't find a great deal of information/review on the web and 96 Halliday points is almost his standard wine score now.....

Tried the Lost Bouy Grenache last night. Comments I've read previously are correct, it does well with a good decant. We used an aerator. First glass was a bit tacky, second was yum and the third was fantastic. Next time will just use the decanter for a few hours first.

Over the years I have drunk quite a few St.Georges.Pretty consistent quality.Reading about 2012 it seems it was a reasonable year so I would be happy to buy it around $30.Think it should go at least 10 years-but that is on my experience of past vintages not drinking the 2012.

I like the St. George. Decent buy at $30 but wouldn't be chasing it for more.
