The best Aussie sparkling I have had was a 1999 Clover Hill Cuvee Exceptionelle Blanc de Blancs - I first tried it at the Taste (New Year event in Hobart) about 3 years ago and purchased a few - I only have one left :(

I will see if I can locate a bottle of the "Loftia"

I'm not a big fan of Blanc de Blancs but I do like Clover Hill... I found the Loftia on their (Deviation road) website and ordered their mixed 6 pack as a trial... Now I need to find a friend to give the SB to :)

Saturday night wine with my mum. Wasnt impressed with my first bottle of the V&A a few weeks back, but this one was opened on the Friday and drunk on the Saturday...much better. Then cracked open the Marl and was very impressed; decent $20 quaffer that continued to drink well the folloowing night.

The V&A is made to age, drinking it this young isn't ideal unless there is substantial decanting and/or open bottle time.

Sevenhills Inigo Clare Valley Shiraz is going down nicely at the moment. Doesn't have the power of the aged shiraz but good for a go to shiraz.

I've not tried the Mount Langi Ghiran - we have too much choice :)

Thinking of a trip to the Yarra Valley on a Sunday towards end of September.

What wineries do people suggest? Paringa, 10X, Crittenden, ... And?

Ed: Actually I meant to write Mornington Peninsular, NOT YV.

Think you're getting the Yarra Valley confused with Mornington Peninsula! All the wineries you've listed are Mornington Peninsula, not Yarra Valley!

If you are actually going to Mornington Peninsula, a great place for lunch (and wine) is Port Phillip Estate. Went there for lunch a few months ago on a warm and sunny Sunday. Ate in the casual part of the restaurant and was impressed - great food at a very reasonable price (~$70 for two, including a glass of wine each). Fantastic view too!

Thanks. Bug**r. I keep doing that. I do in fact mean the Mornington Peninsular. South of Melbourne past Frankston... :)

PPE sounds intrusting for lunch. I've also heard good things about restaurants at Paringa ad 10X.

I had a 1999 Meshach about a month ago. Still had another 10 years on it.
I put away a few of the 2003 for an upcoming birthday "ending in '0'" and tried one a few months ago. It had definitely turned, so I wasn't game to risk the others. Seems that was the only dodgy one amongst them, as this one was superb. I have one left that I will keep until that auspicious occasion.

2003 was the weakest vintage of the decade for the Barossa :(

Picked this one up for $7.50 ($30 at cellar) and thought I'd give it a go with some cheese for lunch. Very impressed. Easy drinking, soft tannins, medium to long finish. Went down a treat.

I don't usually drink Chardy but this one was part of a mixed dozen. I quite liked it although I wouldn't buy it as a stand alone. Lightly wooded, nice nose, crisp dry finish. Seems to represent typical Glenlofty quality
Sorry, can't add a picture during edit so see below.

This one came from Cellarmasters as a mystery dozen for about $9. A softer style Shiraz, not tannic, nice finish, incredibility easy to drink. If it's this good now I'm sure it will be a cracker in a few years.

Montalto Vineyard and Olive grove has a fantastic cellar door and the the food there is fantastic. You need to book for the restaurant. They also have a cafe there that does great pizzas.
