Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

One of my dearest and closest friends for over 30 years sent me this. Can't wait to open it and see what treasures lay within

Yes. Bugger. I think the scrub turkey pooh in my office got to me.. Brain fade. I meant to write Yarra Valley! Bought 3 dozen from them last week including prosecco and moscato. Yum.
Love their moscato. Also their Rose... And the Mea Culpa Shiraz.

That Applejack is a cracking wine. Would have nabbed the Jimmy Watson at Melbourne two years back but didn't meet the production requirements for that trophy class. Still, the Yabby Lake that won was pretty bloomin good too! :!:

We opened a couple of bottles of this elegant wine last night. First cork I managed to pull off nice and easy but the second one broke completely :(

Anyway, still enjoyed it very much, especially the first bottle which has been decanted for 90 minutes before drinking compared to the second bottle which we drank soon after opening (using aerator).

Sunday night Pinots: excellent NZ Pinot. But of a celebration tonight for the final, finally!, demise of the worst speaker in the history of the Australian Parliament.

This was on the cards tonight with a slow roasted shoulder of lamb. Suspect low level TCA as there was nothing on the nose and palette other than a whole bunch of tannins. I suppose that's the lottery of buying at auction.

Had this tonight in one of the (better ;)) restaurants at the ASP casino.

It was very good with the excellent barramundi. Both exceeded expectations.

Had a bottle of 2000 Burgundy at lunch with a few AFFers on Sunday. They know who they are . The wine was sublime, despite a few hangovers around the table.

One of the AFFers and I made the mistake of kicking on for two more bottles of inferior, albeit cheaper Australian plonk.

I recently tried the 2012 Deviation Road ‘Loftia’ Brut from the Adelaide Hills. It is the best Australian sparkling wine I have tasted, and superior to any sub-$100 champagne IMHO.

The best Aussie sparkling I have had was a 1999 Clover Hill Cuvee Exceptionelle Blanc de Blancs - I first tried it at the Taste (New Year event in Hobart) about 3 years ago and purchased a few - I only have one left :(

I will see if I can locate a bottle of the "Loftia"

Saturday night wine with my mum. Wasnt impressed with my first bottle of the V&A a few weeks back, but this one was opened on the Friday and drunk on the Saturday...much better. Then cracked open the Marl and was very impressed; decent $20 quaffer that continued to drink well the folloowing night.
