It rained at vintage.

To be clear, I'm not saying they are bad wines, quite the contrary, but I think they won't have the legs of the 2012 for example.

Glad I have some 2012 then!

When I was looking for the 13, I was surprised to see that both the 11 and 12 (along with the 13) were still available direct from Cullen.

Good chance to acquire a vertical if you don't already have the back vintages.

I'd be loading up on the 12 Steady. The others are good, but 12 beats them hands down IMHO

I would love to be in a position to acquire more (of everything ) - but I have come up with a self imposed plan that has me annually purchasing one or two different wines from a small group of producers that I believe I can keep up in the long term - to hopefully give me a nice little cellar in future years.

Can't see the 2012 available from Cullen at the moment - only the 2011 and 2013

Don't believe him.Steady bought them out!:p;):D

Cove is very quiet on the subject........

Indeed, it appears to be a sell out :( :( :(

I would have liked another couple of bottles, I guess I will have to make do with what I have purchased to date.

Cullen direct is not the cheapest place to buy the DM- you can find the 12 elsewhere in stock and earn some points to boot ;)

A couple yesterday:

2013 Broc Cellars Alexander Valley Carignan from the US
2014 Testalonga El Bandito Redemption fro Swartland in South Africa (with a guest appearance by Tom Belford the winemaker at Bobar in the Yarra Valley with a mouthful of taco)

Both fantastic!

'11 and '12 in stock at Kemenys; $101.99 & $98.99, respectively.

Nice.

I do like to buy direct from small wineries to support their businesses. In the case of Cullens I get 20% off and free freight if I purchase 2 mixed cases, so it's not all bad.

The 12 is also listed as in stock for epiQure for $99.99 in a 3 pack.

Yes- epiQure was were where I was referring to regarding earning points - maybe I was too cryptic :p

Re: Nice Wines I have DranK Recently - Red or White

Friday night Chardonnay: this is drinking very well now. Has opened up a lot in 6 months. With roasted maple syrup marinated salmon fillets and potato, mushroom, Cos and other weeds salad.

Red wine vinegar, rosemary, shallots, lemon juice, lemon zest and olive oil vinaigrette on the left. Thyme for the salmon cover when roasted in 2 hrs time... Hmm might need another bottle!

Ed: hour later it's even better. 'Luscious' would be a good description.

A VM order turned up yesterday so I'm trying my first bottle of the 2013 Schild Estate GSM tonight. I'm finding it to be a reasonable quaffer - not setting the world on fire but well worth the $9 a bottle paid. (But nothing on the $9- maverick twins GSM)
