Nice beers i have had recently - Trappist, lagers, Ales et al.

Had a chat with the taproom owner, place is not easy to find! He says Alive is a two man operation and don't have a canning facility, so exporting is not really a thing they can do.

I love Locality! My wife and I took @Mattg there when we met in Singapore 😂

Believe it or not, their new digs are much easier to find (and much bigger) than their old hole in the wall with camping chairs lining an arcade! But the beer selection, decent prices (by SG standards), and very friendly resident cats made it all worthwhile

And the Alive Brewing guys are lovely, I stumbled on their beers during a trip in 2022 just after borders opened, and ordered some take-home bottles from their website. They hand-delivered them to me and told me their story about starting a brewery during covid - soon after that they released Magic Technique 01.

I caught up with them again at Smith St Taps when they were doing a pop-up in the old Mikkeller stall for a few months. It's really pleasing to see they've found a unique style they're quite good at brewing!

Have been enjoying some West Coast Brewing cans lately, their colab with MC, and a Range x Teenage colab (the latter two part of the Hops from Nihon event)

not sure about now, but at least when i was drinking beer, before becoming gluten-free, Hitachino Nest (Kiuchi Brewery) was Japan’s best - unfortunately no Espresso Stout at Dan’s, but there’s White Ale, both world-class:

For those Sydney based, Sake Ginza at Top Ryde (in the second screenshot) is worth a visit. It's usually staffed by Kanji-san, a humble Japanese guy in his 20s raised here in Sydney but really really knows his stuff when it comes to sake. They always have a bottle of two open for tastings too.

My wife and I convinced him to bring in a few cases of Ise Kadoya, the take-up by high end restaurants was so popular it's now a mainstay! Neko Nihiki is a decent drop 🍻 (they also have a white ale that rivals Hitachino!)
