I enjoy talking to the call centre as they are so helpful. Now if they are helping and getting you an on line price that is wonderful.

I booked 2 to London from Perth today and the site worked perfectly when I do the different cases separately. As usual we grabbed the 2 tickets SIN-LHR-SIN first then got flights PER-SIN-PER.
Adding a nominee for 3000 Kris points was very easy so I think SQ web site problems are easing.

Hi Cove,

Do you find more flights by booking two legs. I had a quick look yesterday ex SYD and in seemed that it was the same - or is it mainly to
London, or do you just prefer the flexibility.

Less hassles and more flights works well for our family. All done in 30 minutes and off we go!

Cove - You are well ahead in the game ! Don't sell yourself short - you are very much a Guru.

Mrs TOF considers SIA the only airline, and to date we have managed very well, either on the web site or by phone during their problems, but you have given me plenty to think about.

I RECOMMEND TO ALL WHO HAVE NOT READ YOUR BLOG TO DO SO !!!!!!

Well TiredOldFlyer I have made a few mistakes along the way so my blog is as accurate as I can post about the fun of chasing and redeeming Frequent Flyer points. I am glad you liked it!

I spent 30 minutes on repairing Mrscove's depleted Kris points total by going down to Westpac and loading a cashed cheque into her Amex Platinum Kris account and then I phoned my girlfriend at the Tax Office about 10 minutes later. It is becoming a bit of a ritual even though she is a bit of a machine!
I tried doing the phone thingy from California but my Tax Office girlfriend doesn't respond nor recognize US tones on my Californian phone. Better to pay on the internet when you are away from Australia.
Now we are ready to use the SQ website.

Hi,

New member from Perth here.

Talking about website bugs, has anyone figured out how to book child redemption tickets online - using the child's own points from its own Krisflyer account - and associating it with a booking made by the parent account (to comply with the rule KrisFlyer members under 17 years of age are not eligible to redeem their miles for award tickets online, unless a Redemption Nominee above 18 years old is travelling with him/her on the same flight)?

E.g the rules only say travelling on same flight, not having their ticket booked from the same account points.

On the new website you cannot make a child only booking as the "no of adults" drop down has min of 1. If you ignore this (e.g book child as adult) and proceed it stops at the checkout where Dob is <17 and thus not valid. I see no question/option to connect to an adult booking or similar as far as I can see (I am a nominee for this child & vv so there is a profile connection between us). So I conclude there is no way to make a redemption booking for the child when logged in to the child's account:?:

I also tried making the booking logged is as myself, hoping to find an option to use the child's points for itself somewhere in the booking process. However there was no luck there either. So again i conclude that you can;t book for another person (even if its a nominee) using their points while logged in to your own account:confused:

My conclusion is that the new website has not included the functionality of booking child redemption tickets, even though it should be possible according to the rules....

I called membership services and spoke to a guy who first had no idea what I was talking about, and then, after putting me on hold for a while, no idea how to solve it. Obviously the Q&A "what to say to callers" flowchart they have to follow also lacks an explanation how to do this...:D

In the end I gave up & faxed the booking request asking for the 15% discount due to lacking web functionality. We'll see where it ends up.

Hopefully that works for you.

While I can't answer your question re: kids, every time the Website has not done what I wanted, or crashed, I have just called the Sydney number and they have completed the booking and they have still deducted the 15% in these cases.

.
There are a host of business rules that haven't been implemented into the website. They probably have it on a list somewhere.

Booked a couple of J flights to Mayamar on the web the other day and am pleased to advise that SIN seem to have overcome
most of their previous problems. Much quicker than previously and worked well. J Savers and convenient flights.
Now if they would only fly 777's ex BNE .........................................................................

After weeks of playing around of the new SQ website, all I can say is that it neeeeds much more work, and alot more testing!

Waitlisted some flights, now wanting to cancel them, and tried to online cancel .... but error pops up and tells me to call the call centre.

Confirmed flights, again the same thing, tried to cancel but directs me to call the call centre.

Searching for flights can be a pain. And then to modify your search query, results in the original query results being displayed. Ahhhhhh! There's some good savers around so I'll still keep persisting.

???orb.waillist.closed???

There's a new message for me. This one appears after getting all the way through a waitlisted booking and clicking from the final screen.. Arrgh, try again another day.

I was trying to waitlist two PAX on the same booking. I restarted and did one at a time. The first worked, the second didn't....arrrgh

Half the family in Singapore, half still in OZ, Christmas is a while away, still quite a few options if this one doesn't come through. We have 28 redemption legs on our Christmas trip (4 pax @ 7 sectors). 26 sectors confirmed and ticketed. Just one sector for two teenagers remains and it is the opening sector out of BNE.
