Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Was it possible to book mixed class fares available on the old site? I thought it only gave this option when your selected class was not available for one of the legs. Eg, if you tried to choose F on a SYD-LHR, it would offer you business on an A380 and First on a 777-300ER. The fact that they now allow F suite redemptions has changed this functionality because choosing first actually brings up first on A380 flights. As I'm not particularly interested in spending a million or so points on a suite, I, for one, preferred the old setup. I guess the only way of doing J on the A380 connecting to F on a 777 is to ring the call centre and lose the online discount...
The mixed fare redemptions are good out of BNE. BNE/SIN only has Y&J fares, so it was possible to book J Saver to SIN then F saver further.

Not being able to do that online will mean...+15% on the redemption points (ie loss of online booking discount) plus maybe loss of any discount available for the complete through booking instead of two separate sectors.

I have the same issues - all my profile information has been forgotten, including passport numbers etc. Also the website will not bring up my upcoming flights, as they were booked with a travel agent. And the speed of the website is truly slooooooow.

Hopefully the bugs will be sorted before I fly out (end June) otherwise I can just see internet check-in not working and then a nice long wait at the airport to be checked in manually.

I rang Singapore to book BNE - SFO J&F after not being able to book on line and was given the discount.

Shame that an airline with such a good reputation seems to have made such a mess ! -However you can still deal with a person unlike some others who expect you to deal with a machine unless you pay extra.
to deal with a machine

I am glad they are looking into it.
Currently it is the site I am avoiding and I felt fortunate to get last weeks booking to America done despite some ugly moments where stuff we entered disappeared "into the Internet cloud"

On a redemption search, I had access to Previous Day and Next Day options.

I suspect it won't be too much longer before the proverbial hits the fan inside SQ (if it hasn't already) and the web site gets taken down.

I don't think SQ is the sort of company that takes criticism all that well;)

From what I have read of the management practices at SQ, they take the criticism and act on it. I am surprised that this website made it live in the first place. Some part of their project process has gone seriously astray.

I think it has been a long time since an organisation the size and reputation as SQ has had such a serious failure in a core system. (i'm not counting 2010 VB problems which were predictable.)

Because I am travelling over the next 6 to 8 weeks I am hoping to read that the booking system is back in great shape on this thread.
Please let us know when all the functions and speed are back to normal as I don't need to look for about 2 months.

Seems to me the web site is getting a little quicker (or maybe I am becoming used to it )

It allows mixed class bookings eg BNE to SFO J to SIN and F to SFO if you are paying $$$$$$ but still not for redemption bookings. Trying this morning caused the booking to default SIN to SFO in F, forgetting the BNE SIN Leg, after saying "No flight available"

I did ring and was told that a redemption booking could be done on the phone and the points required were 400,000 per pax. I can do two PNRs on the web for 720,000 points. Seems they forgot to offer the 15% discount.

I live in hope !

Go looking out of SYD and MEL as a starting point then ADL and PER.
Next look at QF for departures out of each location.
Hope that helps!

Thanks Cove,

Web site still seems difficult ! Often defaulting to wrong dates and requires several attempts to get flight details correct. Unlike others our KF details seem to still be there

Melbourne looks like an option with F on the re-fitted 300 (Maybe ?)
I'm not looking to go until late Jan. I.m not sure that Mrs TOF can be bothered to
fly BNE to MEL though and the refitted metal seems to be hit and miss.
We are going to Milan J BNE To SIN then F to Milan in July and will wait to see how
the Brisbane Singapore leg is in the A330.

As for QF I have never had any joy - at least with SIN you can see flights prior to
giving them points. (We earn our points with AMEX)

Lets hope SIN are working on their site and soon it offers what we need.http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/images/smilies/confused.png

I put my 2 sons thru Sydney ex PER because there were 2 First tickets going begging to get to LHR.
That is much harder to sell Mrscove on going backwards to go forwards but she does love Melbourne!
It does widen your options a lot.

Cove,

I tried Perth (InF) but the search defaulted to a Singapore Departure - same as it seems to be doing from BNE.

If your giving away points to your family perhaps you would like to adopt me.

We use QF JASAs to get to the backwards starting point like SYD or MEL.
I would suggest you keep family members away from your points stash so you don't fall into having to relentlessly work to make low cost FF points.
We haven't gone for adopting but we fostered a daughter for about 4years and she grew up and flew the coop after we took her to Europe and America.
Dumping our two sons on unsuspecting young ladies is a big idea that could save us tons of points or maybe make our points split up worse than it is now. I am not sure which.

Thanks for the Tip Cove, Am having a wonderful time today as I am laid up with
Gout - or maybe DVT from my last Jetsar flight !
Have looked at Q any seat rewards - backwards with no Joy.
We do prefer SQ but the unavoidable layovers are a bit of a pain. Cuts into the holiday time.
And the b....y SQ KF site is still frustrating, but the new "Schedule" access seems pretty good. I note with interest that from July 1 Singapore are using the A380 to LA with the downside of F on wait. Perhaps I should book a F from SIN to SFO in the 300ER and hope they change this to the A380. (We had a win last year
SIN to MIL - changed to A380 but we didn't make it due to THE VOLCANO - ended up in USA instead)
As we have just booked with SIN for the past few years and I am new at searching for the best flights so any tips are gratefully received. Thanks again for your input.

Pick off the SIN-SFO in First if it is sitting there on the old model planes as they are comfortable and reliable. If the flight times don't suit look at the A340-500 which is 98 J seats that runs to LAX and to New York (both non stop).
That first option gets you KRUG champagne the second option gets you Bollinger.
Was Jetstar a treat?
I stick with Crown Lager and Cascade Premium Light to avoid reactions from some of those dreadful brews the mini breweries produce.
Once you are set out of SIN you can go looking for an SQ or QF connection.

Thanks Cove - I think SIN is my best option when they get their site
running properly.
I'm with you - I like the 747 and 773. And I agree with the Beer.

I actually don't mind the new SQ website. Takes a bit of getting used to, and yes somethings are broken, but I like where they're heading with it.

Would your opinion be the same if they took the same attitude with their aircraft maintenance??

There is no excuse for releasing such a poorly tested update like they've gone and done.

LOL...good analogy.
