New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

I have just selected 32A for an upcoming flight. I was unable to get a bulkhead on the lower deck - best I could get was 55D. So asked about row 32 and was not a problem. The photos seems to indicate it won't be too hard to get out and past 32B passenger, and the shelf/locker at the window seat will be very handy for a long flight. I just have to suffer being one of the last people off the plane.

Any insider experience on how long it takes to get off from row 32 verses various places on the lower deck economy cabin??

sorry i cant offer 'insider' experience but i'm guessing it wont be a very exact science...depending on how 'efficiently' airbridges are connected/opened and how 'effeciently' the pax ahead of you disembark...i look at it as a little longer to wait on the aircraft isnt a big deal as it takes a bit of time to unload hold luggage and get it to the baggage hall..i say 'relax and go with the flow'!! so to speak :D

A bit the same as row 80 - sit back, relax and wait the 5-10 minutes until the pax in front start to move.

Row 32 might be better as you only have the 80 odd J/PE PAX in front.

And shortens the wait at the luggage belt!:)
Not if one travels HLO ;). but my work colleague traveling companion is unlikely to be HLO and at the moment he is in the lower deck Y cabin as he can't select seats yet. Hopefully 32B will remain for him to grab at check-in or at the FLounge.

Yep, I am assuming it all depends on which doors are used. Does LAX deplane direct from upper deck? If not, are lower deck Y pax held back while J pax deplane? I guess I will report back shortly.

dare i say that 80 DYKWIA J/PE 'fluffing around' during disembarking can take longer than 300 Y/C pax!!!

With the original configuration Y PAX are generally held back until the last of PE/J have deboarded - even if only one jetbridge is being used (First are generally long gone by the time this happens).

I can see upper Y pax following a) J/W out if there is an upper jetbridge in use and b) F/J/W out via the forward stairs if only the lower jetbridge is available.

You are probably correct - in fact I can see some row 88 (or thereabourts) PAX discretely heading upstairs to disembark ...

Yep, I am thinking it may well happen that row 32 Y pax may be off just as quickly as row 50 Y pax.

I recommended the upper deck exit row (35) over row 79 to mum on that basis. She's only silver so that was the best she could get.

Given that QF and EK will partner up, here are the bathroom ratios onboard the EK aircraft that fly Australia-DXB-Europe if any of you are interested.

- 777 Business Class 1:21 (2 bathrooms for 42 customers)
- 777 Economy Class 1:50.67 (6 bathrooms for 304 customers)
- 380 Business Class 1:19 (4 bathrooms for 76 customers)
- 380 "long-haul" Economy Class 1:61 (7 bathrooms for 427 customers)
- 380 "ultra long-haul" Economy Class 1:44.33 (9 bathrooms for 399 customers)

Which also begs the question, what happens with Y+ customers already booked to FRA :|

My guess would be they would either be rebooked onto Y services with difference offered as compensation (and possibly free date rebooking and refund rights), or rebooked onto BA all the way on WT+ (which admittedly is not as good as QF Y, so bound to be disappointment).

Would QF be willing to rebook onto CX Y+. BA flights are often sold at a significant discount to QF W. Or I'd cancel, get my money back and rebook on CX or BA that is likely to be significantly cheaper.

So - it looks like I'll have to suffer the indignity of 380 Y for the first time in 2 years (LAX-SYD) as my miles are all used up on F again ;)

And I'm even prepared to swallow the bullet and pay for an exit row if necessary.......

80A is a great seat - but definitely a long wait out.......(although inbound to SYD - I don't mind the delay so much).

Is there any first hand consensus now on:

1/ 80A/K

2/ 32 A/B

3/ UD exit row (is that 35?)

4/ LD exit row (perhaps 66C if unable to preselect 66D).

I'm way more confused in my mind compared to the previous config.......

I'd still go for 80A/K ... then 71D ... If I did not mind paying for exit row seats then 48A, 66A/K ... I'll advise on 32A/B in November.

I found row 32 to be very good. Row 35 also looked good. Avoid the back row in the centre block as there is no aisle access from the D seat due to a wall.

However, one of the FAs said the upper deck economy seats are "smaller" than those on the lower deck. He didn't elaborate about what "smaller" meant. He said upper deck seats are made by Ricado while lower deck seats are made by a different manufacturer.

I would be happy to select row 32 or 35 again.

Perhaps you mishead Recaro, in which case the Y seats are all Recaro

LOL, that would be right! I will be in a lower deck Y seat shortly and will try to see if I note the seat being any different. But this time I won't have the extra leg room of the bulkhead row :(
