New Qantas promos including double status credits (book by 3/9/25; travel 4/9/25 until 22/8/26)

Hi! Sorry to go back like 10 pages but just wanted to circle back to this...

I like flying Virgin domestically, however yes I fly a fair bit internationally and it has been spread between QF, AA, SQ and NH this year - so an even split of OW and VA partners. Hence I don't mind trying to chase both. Primarily I'll pick QF especially when there is a good business lounge available but on a lot of routes a VA J flight is the same as QF flex Y so I'm often tempted take that instead. VA are also more generous with their elites (ime) for same day schedule changes and being a plat there keeps me at the top of the tree for that, plus I find their call centres easier to deal with.

I generally grind through my renewal for QF and then switch to VA for whatever is left of my QF year. I'd say my main reasons for keeping QF platinum are all benefits that occur on my overseas travel rather than domestic so I'm not exactly handcuffed to Qantas while flying here. I hope this makes sense!
Agreed - WP is only really an advantage when flying internationally.

It’s just a thought, wondering if there will also be a U-turn on the “bonus loyalty gift” SC’s not being eligible for LTG etc status?
Would be a pleasant surprise lol.

@Princess Fiona posted previously that she’d heard this may very well be happening. Obviously we won’t know for sure until it does (or doesn’t).

Qantas ff seems to be one way.. only qantas allow to rip you off… Iam glad they reverse it.. only today mail saw either double point or sc. since i am life gold i have no value with sc.

Ended up making one booking over the weekend, was surprised that J SYD-TSV is cheaper than J SYD-MEL or SYD-ADL although it is am Embraer not a 737.

Speaking of which with the 1 2 layout on the Embraer does that mean one needs to check hand-luggage at the aircraft like you do when flying the Dash-8s to CBR?

SYD-AYQ was surprisingly cheap at <$700, although when that fare bucket runs out it jumps to $2000!

I managed to get a booking created with our corporate travel agent, however they didn't add my QFF number to the booking at time of booking, I went in and added it in after. Does anyone know if that will still be ok for DSC?

Tomorrow Qantas announces its full year results, and it looks like there's some promos on the way.

The 'twice as rewarding' page used earlier this year for a member promo (either DSC or Double Points on flights) appears to be getting a content update - double points on hotel bookings are confirmed for a week from tomorrow, and there looks like bonus points (double?) for Qantas Business Rewards members.

Might be worth keeping an eye on tomorrow!

Update - Promos are:
  • Double Status Credits or Double Points on flights (book by 3 September 2025, for travel from 4 September - 22 August 2026)
  • Double points on hotel bookings for stays where check-out is by 3 September 2026
  • Double points for businesses when a Qantas Business Rewards member books a flight (book by 3 September 2025, for travel from 4 September - 22 August 2026)
Changes to double SC T&C's: The DSC's don't count towards lifetime status (standard earn only counts), and anyone travelling on federal government funded travel is not eligible for this promo.

Also a separate one-off gift of status credits (40-300 dependent on status), and points if PC/PC+ (2,500 for PC, 5,000 for PC+)

With regard to the one of gift of SC's, Qantas understands that some members will benefit more than others from this gift. However, it makes no mention of those members which will get no benefit whatsoever from this as they will have retained or have bookings in advance to retain their status prior to receiving the SC's. Anyone whose membership year renews at the end of August will get a great kickstart to their cause for retaining status the following year.......what about those members with renewal dates in the immediate following months, and i am suspecting there would be thousands, that would have achieved their goal already?? Surely for those people, myself included, should get some benefit out of this gift by having these SC's at least count towards their lifetime status so they get some benefit rather than nothing at all which is grossly unfair. Qantas has been very good in the past at segregating its loyal members by putting conditions on redemptions, promotions and gifts like this so as to make them totally worthless to some members which no doubt, leaves a foul taste in affected members mouths for being nothing more than loyal to an airline!

In my case, having already made bookings in advance to retain my status with Qantas and partner airlines, i shall receive 150 SC's some time in September, only to lose them entirely in November! Thankyou again Qantas for recognising my loyalty and teasing me with a rotting carrot! Don't bother depositing my gift at all unless it will count for something!!

150 SC would not be enough to get me to push for P1. Had the gift been in the ballpark of 1500 SC I might have considered it. With enough flights to retain WP already 150SC is too little too late to make a difference.

Hi everyone, if I don't have any plans until early 2026, what's the best way to lock in a PNR now? Is it as simple as purchasing the cheapest Y flex SYD-MEL (via Qantas website) before Wed, convert it to an international multi-city in early 2026 and pay the fare difference? Assuming travel dates are well within August 2026. Thanks :)

That's a good way, but it doesn't have to be SYD-MEL of course.

I’m in the same boat, I wonder if qantas is running the numbers or has simply gotten the PR spike and now as usual couldn’t care less.

A couple of sections of FAQ & conditions might be of relevance:

Is this a reduction in flexibility?

(edited to change wording slightly)
I've gone back to the October 2024 double status credits offer where the flexibility previously offered was available. This particular wording wasn't there.

It WAS there in the March 2025 double status credits offer. But, of the 'flexible' bookings I made, I haven't flown any yet to verify whether it affected the offer. Did you have success with any March bookings? If you did, I suspect given the same terms and conditions the same level of 'flexibility' should exist.

No, I haven't so can't say whether it changed in March or not.
