New Qantas Milage Transfer - Worth it?

Might explain the upgrades a bunch of folk got. Wonder if the selection process included people that had transferred to QFF before?

I've never xfer'ed to QF before but received the upgrade. I suspect it's either age group or geography related, as my sister who doesn't even use her fee-free Gold card much received the upgrade. (ie not income or spending related).

Unless they did a mail-match with QF membership list.....

Does anyone know where Citibusiness cards stand in all of this? In reading the QFF site it seems as though it's business as usual so to speak for the Citibusiness card - transfers to QF seem to be included still (as seems to be the case for pretty much all the business/corporate cards), but it'd be nice to get confirmation.

I had a gold card. only used it to pay off a balance transfer, and it was upgraded to a fee free plat card a couple of months ago... never earnt 1 point off it.

Never mind then...was just a random thought that passed through my mind.

Is it just possible that Citi were using some sort of reverse psychology?
That is, those with a good credit rating who hadn't spent "what they should have"?

Perhaps this is an even blacker science than that of the airlines' load/pricing equation?

James

Just switched to Citi Qantas Rewards today. $19 was a bit of a surprise, but when they're giving me a free Platinum card I'm not going to complain. :)

Can I just confirm (because I don't 100% trust the bloke from Citibank I spoke to) - I have ~9,500pts in my account at the moment. Will these be transferred to Qantas (and if so, when)? He said they would, but also said that "any points currently in my Citi Rewards program would be void."

Cheers,
- Febs.

I'm only guessing here but I think it will be similar to the setup with the QF branded Amex. The points will be transferred on a set date each month. Your 9,500 points should transfer on that date, whenever it might be.
The statement - "any points currently in my Citi Rewards program would be void." probably refers to the fact that now you've signed up for the QF deal those points will be frozen until they transfer to QFF and you can't use them for anything else ( eg buying a Nokia N95 for 12,800 points as some of us did a couple of months ago:p)

I decided to convert my Citibank Platinum card to the QF points automated transfer. Rang Citibank, agreed to an extra $19 a year and they said the existing points balance would be transferred to Qantas.
In fact this did not occur immediately but after the end of my next account period, which was only a few days after. Points were in my Qantas account about 3 days after my Citibank statement date.

My understanding of the process is that when you make the request your Citibank Rewards are converted to Citibank Qantas Points within their system, but don't transfer till the the next end of statement date.

thx for posting! did you have an even number of points that went across (i.e. multiples of 2000) or random?

The number of points transferring was a random number, some 55,xx_.
I doubt if the minimum applies, as I think whatever balance is in the account transfers, but cant be absolutely certain on this.
