Re: Flybuys Travel

I made a VA booking and it went through no troubles with the ticket being issued quickly. Only hassle I can't pick my seats on the virgin website, when I try to make a selection I get the message that I need to call to make my selection.

Re: Flybuys Travel

The flights through the site are cheaper (cash payments)and you get FB and FF points. Some 5x offers as well.
Paying in FB points seems to be fairly high though.Higher than airline points?

Was super impressed with Flybuys Travel today who not only beat the direct from airline price of my PER-PNH TRIP by $60 they also gave me 10x flybuys points. Payment was deducted from my AMEX directly by the airline about an hour after booking.

I was also pleasantly surprised by this portal. I only tried it for the 10x FB points offer, which I calculated would save 5% off the price.

I'm travelling but would need to check my receipts, but I don't recall paying a credit card fee? Can anyone confirm?

My FB approach is that since anything paying 1 FB ppd is earning value at 0.5c per $ spent, multiples of 3x are 1.5%, so meh, but recent 10x on Virgin and 25x on Etihad were- in effect- saving up to 12% off the price, so not bad. Good value if stacked on already discounted EY fares.

So is it safe to assume that with my Amex Velocity Platinum Card I would still receive 3 pts per $ as the charge itself appears as the airline (in this case VA)?

I'm not sure how it would work with Virgin.

It's interesting my pop up notification when the transaction went through said Malaysian but my statement says "4 Jalan Suleiman". I paid with my Explorer card so I'm not concerned about the transaction being made with an airline. It might pay to check with Flybuys Travel before you make a purchase.

Im quite certain payment is made directly through CTM loyalty travel, whom operate the Flybys travel portal. I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong.

My flights booked through the FB portal (VA domestic) were charged individually (one charge per ticket) by VIRGIN AUSTRALIA, exactly the same way as VA process bookings for several pax.

I see that the Flybys social media team is very active today here on AFF

I was looking at the Flybys travel portal a few minutes ago, and I noticed that the fare buckets ( ie : Discount economy "N" or full flexible economy " Y " ) don't show when looking at air fares on the Flybys travel portal.

Is their anyway to make these visible whilst browsing the website?

And have been in recent times... it was one of the reasons I booked via Flybuys because I felt confident that if all went pear shaped I would at least get a sensible response here.

Thanks for the feedback; we'll check to see what's possible and let you know.

Just a further update - for Virgin Australia flights, the fare class is now shown (a recent enhancement); we are working on similar capabilities for other carriers, so hopefully over time you'll be able to progressively view this information.

Qantas can you see what Flybuys just did? They listened to some feedback and trying are to do something practical!

@FLYBUYS , maybe this is something else that can be looked at

FLYBUYS travel offer 1 FLYBuY point per $1 spent on Budget Cars

Budget.com.au offer 3 FLYBUY points per $1

BUDGET are a FLYBUYS partner.

DOH!!!!!! big decrepency there.

Thanks for the feedback. We acknowledge that since we launched flybuys travel, the earning rates for Budget at flybuys travel are the same as for all car rental providers on that site ($1=1 point), whereas our long-running arrangement directly with Budget offers 3 points per $1. This reflects the two distinct arrangements we have firstly with our partner for flybuys travel and secondly our direct relationship with Budget. We appreciate that this could confuse some members.

Budget is a direct partner to FLYBUYS and its my opinion, should offer favour over its competitors based on that fact. having said that it still does not fix the FASTBREAK profile problem LOL

May I respectfully suggest that you do not use the word "enhancement" in any communication, ever.

It has, let's say, rather negative connotations. ;)

Thanks flybuys that is an excellent recent addition. Love it!

I just used my Flybuy points to buy 2 * VA SYD-MEL one-way tickets for equivalent to $99 each (used 2 * 19800 FB points, equivalent to 8613 VA points each person). Using Flybuys points works out to be cheaper than directly using Velocity points to book rewards (11000 VA points) when the fare is cheap. Also I should get 5 SCs and some Velocity points (490) from this booking (Gateway), whereas I won't get anything when I redeem Velocity rewards directly.

However, the Flybuy portal doesn't have field to enter Velocity details for Children. I can only enter on mine. Flybuys team, can you please investigate this? I need to enter Velocity points for my daughter ....

Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Please call the flybuys travel team on 1300 315 654 and they'll be happy to append these details for you. We'll work with the travel team to see if we can make the appropriate adjustments to the website going forward. Thanks for the feedback.
