Can some one just confirm is there any bonus points for using the FREE Coles Plat mastercard(Flybuys parcipants ONLY)?
1. Use Coles Mastercard and flick Flybuy(on card) at Flybuys participants gets more more points than:
2. Use Bank Mastercard(rewards points) and flick FLY BUYS(original) card at Flybuys participants?

Back to double dip or more benefits the coles card?

With the free card you would get 1 point per $ spent at Flybuy participants. So you should get 7 points per $5.

I actually have the Source Extra Fast Card, where I receive 1 flybuy point per dollar everywhere. I don't know why but I have not paid any annual free for the last two years and still have been receiving a point per dollar.

I received the platinum card last week and I am not sure if I should upgrade as they might start charging me the annual fee again, as this so called "Platinum" Card benefits are hard to define. Even finding the cost of the card is hard to find!

Well the points did not work out that way?
I just received 2 X statements and credit increase letter from Coles Mastercard.

First Statement 0.00
Second Statement $75 Balance owed.
Shopped 3 X Coles Express(Fuel)
Now it says that I have EARNED only 50 Flybuys points??????
Ensuring each " Simpsons" attendant swiped card :/

I think the Source Platinum Card is just a pretend Platinum Card.
Value of rewards cards questioned

I don't consider it a real platinum card either,to me it's just a store card that you can use elsewhere,I certainly don't think it's on the level of the
EDR platinum card,it doesn't offer any real rewards either, however if as rumoured Coles link up with Velocity then I may change my mind.
But at the moment I agree it's pretend platinum-but I still use it.
Cheers

I don't think there is, or was, a Source Platinum card. The Source product has been retired and replaced with the Coles Mastercard which you refer to. This actually does have some insurance attached to it above the normal version of the card. Whether that insurance is any good or not is another matter!

Had to go look it up. Merchandise Protection Insurance is included in the Plat Card.

That's not what i was told when i activated mine... But i haven't studied the pds closely. From memory all plat cards have to have a certain set of features. Insurance may be one of them.

Long time reader, first time poster...

I hope this hasn't been posted anywhere else..... I just have a query regarding the old extra 4 cent fuel discount that used to be earned on the Source MasterCard when $30 was spent at Coles and used to receive a total of 8cents/ltr off. I received my 'platinum' Coles MasterCard statement today and have been notified that in order to receive the extra 4cent voucher (to use with the standard 4cent voucher) I am now required to redeem 500 Fly Buys points. I assume that 500 Fly Buys points would be valued at around $2.50 (based on 2000 points being $10 off at Coles checkout). So in order to 'save' on fuel, I am first required to redeem $2.50 worth of Fly Buys points. This quickly eats into, if not eroding completely, and saving on fuel.

Any thoughts on this?

If that's the case, then my card is heading toward retirement. Will wait and see what I get with my statement.

Average family car (commodore / Falcon / Camry) fuel tank ~65L

So at an "additional" 4cpl saving that works out to a saving of $2.60, and this can all be had for 500 FlyBuys points at the quoted value of $2.50... houston we have a problem...!

I have noticed most of the flybuy bonus points at coles and Liquorland have come with no savings at all!

I rang the Coles MasterCard service centre and was told that the additional 4c fuel discounts are now obtained by first redeeming 500 Fly Buys points and then spending $30 at Coles within the following 180 days and the receipt from the checkout will automatically have the additional 4c added to the standard 4c (or other promotional standard discount). I asked the CSR to confirm that I first had to actually redeem points in order to obtain a discount and she replied 'yes'. When I mentioned that this makes the extra 4c fuel discount a worthless exercise, she replied 'well the offer works for some people and not others'. Personally, I cant see how this offer can work for anyone when you have to redeem points to get a discount??

Anyway, I asked her for the number to ring to cancel my card at the end of the month, which she quickly provided me. So if someone else can also confirm that this is the new system for receiving the extra 4c off fuel after contacting the service centre, then its sayonara to my 'Platinum' Coles MasterCard at the end of this month.

It depends, which is why I am waiting to see the detail. If it is 500 points for 6 months of vouchers then it may be ok. If it is 500 points for each voucher, the that won't work!

As I have stated before, unless you take more than 63L then the additional "bonus" voucher is worthless...!

Edit: but if the 500 FB points make a voucher valid for multi visits over 6 months then its a not a bad deal I guess...

Finally got my May statement, and the details of the offer are here: http://flybuys.com.au/fuel. It certainly reads as though one redemption will get you one voucher.
