New Amex statement credits

Perhaps, but in the last decade Amex have had their most generous promos either for points or cashback in the lead up to Xmas and so I would be interested in why you believe that they wlil this year abandon this long followed marketing strategy now.
Look at how the frequency and generosity of offers has decreased over the past 2 years. There's an extremely obvious trend.

I wonder if offers have decreased ever since people started adding 20 odd fraudulent cards to their accounts under fake baby/pet names :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Likely. I'm often responsible for gaps in the system being shut down :)

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The VM offers haven't been that great recently, but $30 for $100 was enough for me to jump.

True. Though I created 5 new accounts to stack with the $25+$25 referrals. So ended up being cheap wine ;)

$400 save off my Momentum account which I had only just opened.

The Accent Group was ok for me too as my wife and I both needed some new shoes and clothing items for our upcoming 11 week trip. 7% Cashrewards stacked on the $20 Amex Cashback from $70 on 7 cards all on Sale Items was for me good buying.

So all in about $800 saved today. ;)

I am waiting for the Qantas Domestic window to tick into April 2019 so I can make use of the Qantas Cashbacks. And when that occur I will make use of two of the Rydges credits.

And an interesting one on Amex Connect regarding public transport in parts of Sydney:

Thanks, that is interesting. Hopefully it will be rolled out to other modes quickly.

Don't know how prevalent it is overseas but I've recently seen tourists trying to tap-pay on public transport in Australia (unsuccessfully of course).

They are probably from London. In London you can use a credit card instead of an Oyster card and get the full benefits (daily caps,etc.). Using a credit card in Sydney is restricted to one or two services and you pay the higher single trip fare. Hardly a bargain although convenient if you don't have an Opal card.

New offer on one of my cards from Bang & Olufsen - 5 times points to a maximum of 1 million points per card! Anyone planning to spend 200k at B&O? Valid to 30 September 2018.

There'll be some audiophile out there who'll be able to justify that spend at B&O over the next 6 months..........

I though B&O was more for their design? either way, I need a few more 0's in my bank account to justify buying there. David jones stocks some of their stuff which is good when buying with discounted giftcards.

Exactly. They aren't Bose, but nor are they B&W!

Against the spirit of things for sure but not so sure if this is a reason for offers becoming "less generous" as the offers are usually capped for registration, ie x,000 cards. So it doesn't matter if it's one person with x,000 cards or x,000 people with one card each, the maximum liability is the same.

But yes, the quality and usefulness of the offers - and the frequency of quality, useful offers - is clearly declining IMO. Together with the tightening of loopholes around gift/eftpos card purchases, it's becoming harder to take advantage.

Sydney Ferries and Light Rail
Get 50% back, up to $10

Beware this offer is nowhere near as generous as it seems.

Keep in mind that these promotions are by and large funded by the merchant themselves (with some exceptions). They will be expecting certain returns from their marketing budget - and if folk are going around buying giftcards to spend elsewhere, I dare say it doesn't come out well.

Next time around, Amex marketing have a much harder task selling the proposition to merchants...
