OK :p

I have been smacking around the star alliance RTW fare tool and I have come up with something that seems to work

What I need to know is how do I make it cheaper, and how do points work (which loyalty should I join and how)

I wont put the airport codes I am bound to get them wrong but heres what I am looking at

tokyo-istanbul-london-oslo-longyearbyean-Reykjavik-Dusseldorf-New York- Denver-Phoenix-Anchorage-Surface to Prince Rupert-Vancouver-Seoul-Tokyo

I am still fiddling with the order of Longyerbyean and Reykavik

I cant seem to get it cheaper out of Korea, and am getting 8K for a business class flight (I am being hopeful!) - is that cheap for that type of route??

looking forward to your expertise. I have been on that blasted system for ages poking and prodding it

Oh is my itinerary insane??

Oh one other thing - how do those airpasses actually work - is it worth picking up a US one to do a couple of legs and how much am I actually looking at?

I also hear the airline you start your leg on can affect the overall taxes??

Im amazed any trips ever get booked - does star alliance actually have rules that I can read up on?? :o

Far from it - on this board many would consider your planned itinerary a waste of two segments (you can have 16).

I actually think all the segments are allocated - theres the land one and a trip involving longyerbyen that uses two sectors

But it seems I posted to early, just when I thought I had it figured out I realised that not all business class (or economy for that fact) is created equal

the route I was/am looking at has turkish airlines in it a lot. Which from what I read is not as good compared to Singapore Airlines or Asiana

So now I am trying to figure another route using these providers

And If I can time the trip to Longyerbean to the time of year that I dont need to carry a shotgun for the polar bears

Argh now I know how a good travel agent earns their $
