Most likely, but you can always ring and check with them. I rang them when I went for this deal (though I think it was only 50k points then) as at the time I'd had a previous NAB card (< 1 year prior) that I had opened and cancelled in the space of 2 months. It was to get $100 off my AFL membership - just had to spend $100 on the card with no fees. I have since learnt there are better offers to chase!

I've just applied for this today. For some reason it spat an error when trying to use VEDA to ID check me. It says its going for a manual application review. Has this happened for anyone else?

Wish I had a manual review for my application. Just check to see if you're address and name matches what's on VEDA.

Having closed my NAB account in October 2014, just wondering if I re-applied would I qualify for the 75,000 promotional offer.

Yes. I called up and asked about this recently as i closed my account in July 2016. Doesn't matter when you closed it, they will sign you up to the card and you will be eligible for the bonus.

Do payments to the ATO count towards the $1500 spend requirement?

To answer my own question, payments to the ATO do not count as part of the $1500 spend. According to NAB payments to the ATO are considered cash advance and you get charged interest for the transaction immediately.

Dannysim, would you please confirm getting the bonus when the points come through?

Yes. I called up and asked about this recently as i closed my account in July 2016. Doesn't matter when you closed it, they will sign you up to the card and you will be eligible for the bonus.

Is this really the case? The T&Cs may have even been strengthened to counter this as i don't remember reading the below in the past from NAB:

Offer commences 22 June 2016. Offer available online only to new approved NAB credit card customers who apply for a new NAB Velocity Rewards Premium Card by 2 October 2016. Offer is not available when closing/transferring from another NAB credit card account or in conjunction with any other NAB card offer, including other Velocity bonus points offers. Terms, conditions, fees, charges and lending criteria apply.

The way i read that is if you have closed say a velocity account post 22 June 2016 and if that account included a velocity bonus point offer you are automatically excluded from receiving again. No 12 month exclusion like ANZ but seems pretty clear from the above if they want to deny granting points its all there in black and white.

Closed account prior to 22-June i'd give it a crack, post 22-June not sure i would.

Received my new cards and made the qualifying spend on 30 July. Bonus points were credited on 20 August. First bit of decent customer service I have received from the NAB.

Cancelled my QF cards the day before applying for the VA cards (mainly so I did not have to pay the annual fee on either card).

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

So at first I was declined, told I was only eligible for $3000. Then I asked my friend at NAB for some help, managed to finally get it through to manual review after some phone calls.

Then 3 days later I called to find out I was conditionally approved for $6k pending income verification. Then I sent in payslips as requested. Then I called 2 days later to be told after income verification I'm only eligible for the $3k card. Apparently my income was less then I quoted as I forgot to include hecs repayments. Then I complained about the screw around and it's back in the manual review pile for $6k.

I'm one last rejection away from giving up. 70k points is worth while but there's only so long you can keep up the battle.

I ended up with a mid month billing cycle unfortunately, but got the card earlier in the month, passed the threshold pretty quickly and received a surprise bill on the 18th.

Logged in this morning, found bonus paid on 20th. As I said previously my old card was still active because of a bungle when I applied, so it looks like there shouldn't be an issue with closing a card and reapplying for this.

Just spoke to the cards redemption team about cancelling as there are "so many good sign on bonus offers out there, eg Amex, Westpac BW etc"

I was told to NOT cancel the existing card (he confirmed that it would not be cancelled by bankmail), but apply for a new card under this offer and I will get the 75K points again. Then, cancel the first card after getting approval for the 2nd one.

I will be trying this later today and will report.

The approach depends on how close you think you are pushing your maximum combined card credit limit. If you are well within your maximum borrowing limit then cancelling beforehand will not be required. However, if you are pushing the envelope, I would be cancelling the old card so you do not need to allow for a card limit you are not going to retain anyway.

Also, you can only have one free card on the home loan package and cancelling a card mid month means you lose any points earned in that month.

My repayment capacity is just fine so I have submitted the application now. As the whole point is to get the points, applying whilst still a customer makes some sense I guess. The first card has zero points waiting and no unpaid charges.

Complete opposite to what I was told - I'm glad their customer service is consistent

I hate to say it but some of the nervous people on this thread have got me spooked about my eligibility. I've been trying to get something in writing confirming my eligibility for this promotion, but have not got a reply, yes or no.

I'm thinking I will apply for this card, then call up before activating to discuss my eligibility and get a record of the conversation. That will have to do.

(For anyone just tuning in, this is because I got the 60k points bonus in April and cancelled my card in July)

I reapplied yesterday and will let you know hopefully in the next few days. The offer goes till Oct so try to relax for a little bit. ;)

Edit: oh hang on, you cancelled the first card. I was told not to. so, it may be different. Can you apply, and once accepted before 'accepting' it, ask about the bonus - does that work?

I don't think you've got a problem, read what I said above.

I got the NAB card back in October 15 and got the points, I'd moved to an ANZ card in May, cancelled the NAB one at the start of July (found out later it was still active). Found out about this promotion, reapplied at the start of August, crossed the spend and got the points last week.
