NAB QF Rewards Signature card application questions

I just read the thread and I see many of you having 3, 4 or 5 credit cards. I was wondering if it was a personal choice, or a strategy. My strategy is to close as soon as bonus points land, hence I only have 1 or 2 at any time. Curious to understand why keeping more than that

I have two keepers, an Amex to take advantage of shop small, member offers and good bonuses and a cheap low cost card that has fee free foreign transactions for travel.
The low cost card is also my go to if I want an extended warranty on something as it’s the only card with insurance I know I’ll still hold in a couple of years.
Then it’s churn churn churn the rest.
The Amex still gets churned every 18 months - rotating between my name and the wife’s name and referring each other as soon as 18 month exclusion period ends.

Ok I see, nice strategy. Which one is your low fee card with extended warranty? Thats a good idea. I also like the referral strategy.

The ANZ rewards travel adventures card - $129 per year and with a free return virgin flight a year - which is up in the air a little bit!
There’s a couple of other popular ones - 28 degrees and bank west have a fee free card too.

I applied for the Signature as an existing customer on Friday night, but was downgraded down to Platinum.
Emailed me on Monday asking for clarification of living expenses, sent a reply on Monday afternoon.
Approved Thursday morning.

I'm hoping that I'm still eligible for the 30,000 points that they are offering for the Platinum. Will check once I receive the card.

Still waiting to receive this card. Original card was returned to sender due to incomplete address, despite address in application and online profile correct. Only found out once I noticed another card in the NAB app had disappeared. Called to get it resent, which was 16th June. Called last week, told to wait a few more days, due to AusPost delays. I give it until Monday afternoon until I call and asked for a replacement to be resent via Express.

Update. Still waiting to receive the card. Called last Tuesday, spoke to a lovely CSR, apologised for the delay and advised they'll block the yet to be activated card and send out a new card by Express Post, promised a follow up phone call on Friday.
SMS on Thursday morning saying card is in the mail.
Check letter box today, no card. Received follow up phone call from same CSR this afternoon to see if I received the card, phone call a day late but I can excuse the day delay. CSR goes to check what the tracking number for the EP letter was and realises they ordered the card via normal post, so no tracking number.

I stay on hold for a little bit and CSR comes back advises I can have an extra 60 days to spend the $2,500 because of all the delays. I don't need the extra time though, just need the card so I can spend straight away. The CSR promises a call back tomorrow after 2pm to see if I've received the card, might ask for an annual fee waiver if I haven't received the card. Lucky I'm a very patient person

Conditionally approved today with ~$80k income, ~$200k share portfolio and one $6k limit card. Monthly expenses ~$800.

After a query why my monthly expenses were so low we’ve moved from conditional to full approval. Relatively smooth process.

I thought the minimum card period was 12 months or was that just the signature cards ?

Card arrived today and minimum spend will likely be met tomorrow. Trying to convince the other half to apply for the card.

Question on meeting the min spend for this card, if I were to buy Qantas vouchers to make up a portion of the $3k min spend, that should qualify right? Per the T&Cs its looks like only gambling/gaming, government charges and cash equivalent type transactions are excluded from everyday purchases.

Given the current situation, I'm struggling to find anything to spend money on so trying to prepay future expenses where possible to drum up the required expenditure.

I don't see a problem with your purchase qualifying. But when are you planning on using those vouchers?

What about:

1) Some WISH cards?
2) Preparing even part of large annual bills like your health insurance?

Thanks for the suggestions

QF vouchers last for three years I believe? I'll do a bit more research on the relevant T&Cs.

I don't have any major expenses tbh. Work pays for my health insurance pretax and I'm a young bachelor renting with very few possessions (e.g. no car, other expensive assets). I live light. In hindsight I probably shouldn't have got a new CC now but want to get points club to earn SCs on classic rewards...which will now be of limited utility.

Conditionally approved yesterday. Approved today after phone call to clarify spending. Getting by on an oily rag. Only hiccup, had to walk around to the branch yesterday for ID verification.

Just an update on this one.

Just a little bit deflating, after spending the required $3k within a few weeks of receiving the card I received an email to say congratulations on getting the 100,000 points and they will be awarded on 17/09/2020. The email was received on about the 6th August so a 6 week wait to receive points.

email advised the extra 30,000 points (taking it to the advertised 130,000points) will be given on the 13th month of card membership. I can upload a screen shot if it assists anyone.
