MYER is set to enter the travel market, with the launch next year of an online accommodation and flight booking service through its store loyalty program.

The proposed expansion into travel comes as the country's leading retailers beef up incentives to attract shoppers during the economic downturn.

I reckon it is a brave move and probably not the best time for such a launch.

Wonder if they are going into partnership with? Cannot see it working without a partner at the moment unless they offer extraordinary service at budget prices.

I dont see that experience running a department store sets them up as whizz bang operators in the tourism sector.Even if they succeed I see no good in it for people such as me.I do use a TA but it is a family owned independent business that offers great service-I dont want to see them put out of business by large organisations with deep pockets.
For the great masses-they may very well love it.
