I assume AA will want to use AA flights where ever possible, ie the JFK-SYD, but i can later change them to a QF flight number if i can't convince them to ticket a QF flight number ? Since i have heaps of QFF points i can try and use for F upgrades.

E

@NM I think the idea was to use QF points to UG into F thus looking for QF options to FRA.

especially if you can fly on Mondays, Thursdays or Saturdays
QF1 SYD 18:05 BKK 23:10
MA81 BKK 00:30 BUD 06:10
MA520 BUD 07:45 FRA 09:35
This flight a 767! Long time, 11:40, to be in a 767 although I don't know how Malev business class compares with other carriers. I would not imagine anything like a skybed on offer....

QF SYD-HKG connecting to CX to FRA provides an opportunity to upgrade one leg.

I made the mistake of commenting on BA 767 J and then was unceremoniously shown pics of the BA CW seats...

@NM Good point - that's my "regular" F upgrade although slightly risky - I flew up there once in F on QF and then had two hours in the lounge at HKG - I was feeling a little "tired and emotional" by the time I boarded teh CX flight :hic:

Via BUD seems interesting, but it sort of means i need to loose a segment somewhere else and some SC's (not that i need them but you know i would loose about 200 of them)

Some more interesting routings i have looked at....
KIX-SIN-LHR-DME-MAD-LHR-SFO...... (Not that i avoid LHR this way)
KIX-HKG-BKK-HEL-MAD-LHR-SFO......
KIX-HKG-LHR-AMM-DME-LHR-SFO..... (or replace first LHR with CDG)

Fred has some interesting ideas... choices choices... :)

What do people think on Muscat ? , Is Amman for example better or more interesting ?

You can also route HKG-HEL and save another sector if you do not need to be in BKK. The HKG-HEL route is OK in J on the AY MD11. Just for something different....

I miss AY since they discontinued BKK-SIN and BKK-HKG. No problems with AY J class, though I am normally more interested in space than totally flat beds.

pity that via NRT direct from SYD requires an overnight - connecting via PER it would work to join JL407 NRT-FRA but that's three days/week and the PER domestic-international connection procedure is a disgrace.

BKK-AMM-FRA works on Tuesdays but just misses the connection from SYD.

Hopefully in April I will be able to comment on both MA (2 connections in BUD) and AY long haul J. And I suspect I will eventaually try the proposed RJ route BKK-HKG.:)

Happy wandering

Fred

Is SVX impossible on a DONE4 ? (thats not the actual route i may follow but just using it to check BUD-SVX but it seems not possible)
Does anybody have the latest fare conditions, any chance there is a rule like South America via NA transit ?

1: NRT-SIN: 1st of 4 (Asia)
2: SIN-FRA: intercontinental
3: FRA-BUD: 1st of 4 (Europe)
4: BUD-SVX: 2nd of 4 (Europe)
Rule violated!!!! [BUD-SVX] Max 1 segment(s): No backtracking: TC2-TC3
5: SVX-BUD: 3rd of 4 (Europe)
Rule violated!!!! [SVX-BUD] Max 1 segment(s): No backtracking: TC2-TC3
6: BUD-FRA: 4th of 4 (Europe)

For your Australia (SWP) connections has anyone tried this

MEL-PER-KTA-BNE-MEL (KTA-BNE on a Tuesday QF992)

I dont think they have added this to the restricted sectors yet.

Only restriction on SVX is the "far reaches of Europe" rule but you're doing it from BUD so that doesn't apply. MA does fly BUD-SVX (MA152 every Thu). It looks like you have a bug there that considers SVX to be in a different continent to Europe/ME.

You can have 2 entries/exits to NA so long as one of those entries/exits are for the purposes of transitting to/from SA.

I though when intoduced this was to be a 717 service so it would be a WHY only flight with no J SC's to be earned on this segment.

I see it's now a 73H with J available.

Interesting, however as you would need to ensure you travel PER/KTA on a 737 as well to maximise points/SC's.

I'm not sure if a 717 could make this run. (a little bit close for my liking)

Wikipedia says the maximum range if 3815km for the 717-200 (High Gross Weight) and only 2645 for low gross weight. BNE-KTA is 3750km. Boeing 717 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I guess they could push it if QF have the high gross weight version.

It would be nice to see a Qantaslink 717 in BNE though, better than a Crash. ;)
