Mr Joyce. Please explain the value of loyalty

AJCA. Loyalty is often about flexibility. While your views are based on a very “black & white” interpretation of the rules, this attitude is not conducive to promoting loyalty. For me it is the little things that make the difference. After receiving free flights for being impacted by the QF grounding, I advised the QF contact that I would happily give up the free flights for the upgrade to WP.
And yes I did earn SC credits during the year and had planned to do the flight to HKG before SC expired, however had to delay by a few days due to business plans changing. Also all my points and SC are gained by flying, none are by Credit Cards or similar.

Sorry I can't agree with you about QF comping you up to platinum. The qualification periods are there and set, if they started bending it then how for would it need to bend? 1 day? 1 week?

Also you cannot get status on QF with credit cards. It needs to be bum on seat flying.

Just don't fly DeathStar, I'd rather go in QANTAS longhaul economy where everything is too much and the meal trays are banged down on your dirty tray-table by sullen has-beens than fly on this scab airline. Done it twice and never again.

That's why I think it is a strange move. But Jetstar are proud of having the highest percentage of revenue coming from the purchase of extras, of any airline.

Isnt that because Jetstar make you pay for everything? They may well charge for life jackets, like they do in one episode of Come Fly With Me.

Maybe if the oxygen masks we're to drop down, they would charge for their use!!

No doubt that's the reason and also why they have a business product that is not all inclusive. At least that was my suggestion, even if I think it is strange.

I'm flying from Hobart back to Melbs on J*. Unfortunately, as the flight leaves well after the last QF flight departs, the QP will be closed....

If Jet* is part of the Qantas family/group, why not keep the lounge open for a few extra hours for the QFF and QC members??

p.s. my QF flight from Melbs down to Hobart was cheaper than the Jet* flight back!!

Easy answer really - just fly Virgin for any port where the Qantas Group airline is Jetstar, and then fly Qantas everywhere else.

Works for me...

Never have flown DeathStar - and never will....
Its the Australian Ryanair clone, and deserves the same respect (zero). The whole cattlerace checkin system/queues that tail on forever (it would seem) for Jetstar defies desription! Fortunately I have never had to endure that kind of cattle treatment and never will....
The jetsarisation of many QF routes is sadly continuing it would seem.

But $10 on/off an international business class airfare is not such a great loss to them.

You wouldn’t think so, but adding special dispensation for just the Gold Coast lounge would likely create all sorts of hassles for cheap plain "business" tickets leaving from other ports where there isn’t lounge access.

I am totally aware that there are some horror stories out there with JQ, but the same goes for any airline.

I've never felt like cattle flying them. Yes it is tight in Y, but that's expected.

Some of the deals are great, and they have their purpose although some people will argue what that is.

No i heard the drop down is complimentary, then you get introductory free oxygen for 30 seconds before you have to pay by L/min of oxygen flow.

Any post paid plans, or are they all pre paid?

methinks this thread needs to be moved!

amazed how many here haven't flown jq.
have done a number of jq35s bunch of other domestics, syd-hnl, mel-sin, and a bunch of jetstar asia flights.
use online checkin, know the baggage reqts and its a pleasant cost effective journey.
and if jq7 is running 11hrs late due to engine issues and late arrival, drink the lounge dry of bollinger!

If you're lucky enough to be flying JQ from a port with a decent lounge..... Or any lounge for that matter.

Not quite ; JQ you still at least get allocated seating.

I'd agree and go further and say not interested in flying Qantas either - the attitude of the whole outfit, management, staff & unions stinks and the competition is going to eat them up and spit them out simply because they are completely indifferent to the folk that made them in the first place and that is exactly what they deserve. The Qantas group need to get off their arrogant almighty pedestals and realise that with no customers there is no business. That is the way it is heading and if you have any doubts look on this site (amongst others) and look at the trend of Qantas with its continued "enhancements" with associated valid complaints and Virgin with its continued enhancements and associated praise. Does not take Einstein to work it out.

For me I took the biblical approach - do unto others - and gave them the bird just as they give all of their customers the bird. I now fly exclusively with Virgin Australia (in Australia) and generally with Star Alliance carriers internationally. Virgin treat their customers as people and recognize the customers ultimately pay the bills and they get the respect they deserve. My firm intention is to never fly with coughstar again in my life (the 2 times I have flown with them was enough for an eternity) and Qantas only if there is absolutely no other choice.

As for Business class - there is a more than reasonable expectation that Business class entails a level of service and facilities and that includes Lounge Access.

I have a thing called the "never again list". Telstra has been 'greyed out' at the top of this list for more than a decade. Jetstar is sitting well clear of the pack at #2 and are oh so close to being greyed out. Might actually already be there, but while there's a remote chance I may travel somewhere for which the only alternative is a horse drawn coach ...

Jetstar is far from Ryanair's standards, or even EasyJet.
Also what Jetstarisation of QF is happening lately? AFAIK there hasn't been anything in the past 2-3 years?
