More Plat One ridiculousness

Look I get that it's nice to be addressed by name, but seriously is this a thread all because an FA didn't have your name on hand when they came around to speak to you?

Understand where you're coming from, harvyk - and if none else else had been greeted and the OP complained, I'd agree.

However, in this case, it's obviously that those with lesser status (WP like me) were greeted, but the WP1 wasn't even recognized by name. Massive fail in my book - and I'd be peeved too it I spent the amount of money that the OP must have done with QF and although their processes allowed them to recognize lesser mortals they couldn't even know my name. Pretty poor form, QF.

On a different point in this thread ... I have a fairly easy to pronounce surname, but its one letter off an even more common surname. I've lost count of the number of times I've had the CSM read my BP and address me with the more common surname than my own. I figure: if they can't even read precisely, then why even bother?? So those with "complicated surnames": you've no chance!!

Regards,

BD

With the serious amount of travel that the OP has done to achieve P1 in the first place, if not getting a greeting on arrival at the aircraft is the worst thing to have happened in all their flying days, then I'd say that they have had a stellar travel career.

I'm inclined to agree. I know status comes with perks, but some of the complaints I've seen (eg, I got moved from my pre-selected seat), I have a similar response: "If thats the worst thing you are dealing with, then life is pretty sweet"

As my surname is a little difficult to pronounce correctly if you do not know it (and very easy if you do), on countless occasions in the boarding process (and at other times where names are involved), all the passengers before me will get welcomed by name etc and l will not. It happens so often to me that it is pointless getting excited about.

On the bright side, at least the OP can fly on QF from SIN to get some sort of P1 benefit. It is 3K or SQ for PER customers. However, now QF have forced me to fly on SQ, in Y, there is no real difference on board between flying as a P1 on QF and as a VA red on SQ on PER-SIN sectors.

I frequently get that with many airlines. The person in front will get "welcome back Mr Smith" without a pause when looking at the boarding pass.

They get to mine and it's "..... *2 odd second pause* welcome back sir!". I'd rather they attempt to pronounce my name (Which, really isn't that difficult, it's just longer than 5 or 6 characters so they seem to think it must be pronounced strangely).

Umm, I read the OP to be worried about their name not even being on the list, rather than a lack of greeting. The crew member didn't even know they were a P1 in the first place before even getting to the point of having a greeting. Having been on a few QFi flights where the crew have totally and completely ignored me I also strongly suspect there is an issue that they fail to include all high status passengers on the list. That is an issue that is so much bigger than getting or not getting a greeting.

To add to the first name data point, I also asked to be addressed by my first name. It also lasted about 4 weeks, as was reported by someone else in thread.

I know a few people on here will disagree, but I've found that CX treat OW Emeralds like Gods (or something close to that)..
I am probably the only one that disagrees.

CX service recovery is poor.

Actually - it's a breach of service standards and feedback should be provided.

The FA should never have reached your seat without the CSM resolving the issue so it is a crew failure (and likely a system failure as well).

Not a DYKWIA issue at all - a clear cut case of Official Service Failure.
