My upgrade just came through for my QF international flight tomorrow (2 pax).

I had a look at Check My Trip and it says no seat requests specified.

Expert flyer shows no seats left together!

Just called the QF WP 13 number and I got the Premium Desk... finally! hehe.. But they said they can't put in any more seat requests.. the flight is now under airport control. All he could do was put in a remark to say please seat together at check in.

Darn!.... Any ideas??? Looks like my wife and I maynot be sitting with each other!

For some, on a say a transpac flight, that might not be a bad thing:D

Over 8 hours for somebody to say that ! :D

Maybe checkmytrip does not have the info passed to it correctly ?
Anyway arrive early i am sure they will try to put you together, also you may have been pre-allocated and the seats taken your seeing in EF could be yours.

The other option when onboard is to try and swap seats - obviously offering the swapee the better of your two seats.

I agree with Evan, arrive early - if that fails and you are not indeed seated together, ask in the QP if they can help you. Failing that ask the CSM when boarding to see if they can arrange something [edit: as per simongr's suggestion].

Arrived at the airport 2 hours before departure.

There was a que at the business check in, so I was called over to the economy check in.

Its funny.. I had to tell them twice to put the business tags on.. and they almost missed one of my bags.. so I had to remind them a third time.

Anyway... our seats were not together. The premium desk left a remark on my booking to seat us together.

The check in agent saw the remark.. and then he noticed I was a WP on my boarding pass. He asked his supervisor to come over.. and he tore up the boarding passes. They booted some people from 1A 1B and gave us those seats instead!... ahhhh the joys of having WP status!

Now we stand-by for the post about a person who allocated 1A many months ago only to turn up at the airport to find themselves dumped in 6E  .

Only goes to show ... get to the airport early and ensure you get the BP for your preallocated seat ... I'm not saying you won't be movbed but it's less likely.

FWIW, I doubt the previous occupants of those seats had WP or CL status.

Wow! And you are happy with that scenario? Who cares about the people that have had 1A or 1B pre-allocated, probably months ago?

I would not worry about it; it's happened to me at least twice and nearly a third time (all back when I was a mere SG) ...

I am not worried about it.

But then again, as a Platinum, I wouldn't accept someone else's allocated seat without their approval, especially after being one of the last to get an upgrade on that flight.

They could have been staff or any other reason.

I have to agree that I would be surprised that an agent would do that and it's pretty rough on the other pax.

Given an award booking i am a little supprised but if they were paying customer then it may be a little different as seats are not absolutly guranteed.

I have had it done to be a couple of times by babies as i was in the front row of Y but either been offered 4 seats all to myself down the back or an upgrade so never complained.

As long as the evictees weren't flying together and split up, or downgraded, then doesn't seem a lot of difference.

I'm sure we've all been on the receiving end of such moves, and I have benefited, when my wife and I (on separate PNR's and as QF nuthin's) were given front row of lower deck on QF5. She had initially been allocated upper deck; I was in the middle of the main J cabin.

What goes around tends to come around.

Just to clear things up... I didn't even ask for 1AB. Not my intention at all to boot someone.

I just said.. please see if you can get us ANY seats together... I would have been happy with row 5!

I was amazed that they moved 2 people to get us seats together. I suspect the people who had 1AB preallocated were not travelling together.

I was even more surprised when they allocated us 1AB...

Maybe they used the baby code to change the seats? Otherwise the system would not have let them??? Any ideas?

Maybe Mr 1A was moved to 16A and Mr 1B was moved to 16K, so a good deal all round.

I hazard a guess that Chucksta et el were travelling on a 333 out of PER ... In wich case - no row 16 nor, indeed, an upper deck ;)

Hey Chucksta - I don't think anyone was havign a go at you (well I know I wasn't) - I was just stunned that they would do that so casually. And people wonder why real frequent flyers chase status ;)

By the way, QF Biz Class is really declining.

Last time I flew in J was 4 months ago from SYD to NRT.

On yesterdays' flight, pax had to bug the attendants for ammentiy kits and the food really really sucked. No other word to describe the catering.

I can't begin to imagine QF Y food...

I'm on a SQ flight tomorrow... so it will be interesting to see the difference.

Hmm... Real frequent flyers don't need to chase status though do they , since a real frequent flyer gets it anyway
