Tried to access the MM website just now but got a warning from Chrome re: malware.
Can someone confirm whether this is the case ?
Is the website safe to use ?
Any alternative websites to calculate distances, etc.

I'm not sure of the status of MM but to calculate distance I use Great Circle Mapper (www.gcmap.com).

I can recall getting a malware warning on MM a few years ago (would have been using IE or Firefox), but was a one off and have used it frequently since with no warnings or apparent issues.

I have used it and in recent time there have been some small additional such as Ad's and a social networking toolbar (addThis) which has caused me issues.

That could be firing up your browser's malware sensitivity.
