Will be passing through the lounge in a week's time. I'll ask and find out what is being planned for the renovations. ;)

Hmm well this has turned into a bit of a bummer for me. I am flying to KUL next week, taking along my family and mother. Our flight MH 140 lands at 3am and we have several hours before the connection. So only the regional lounge is an option. Just as well I've made a reservation at the transit hotel.

There is nothing wrong with the Regional Lounge and it will be open 24 hours during the Satellite lounge closure, and hardly likely to be bustling at 3am.

Hope so. The few times I've been to the regional lounge it always appears quite small and very busy. I may just be missing on a large section of it? I usually go sit at the bench facing the window.

I'd call it reasonably big, but everything's relative :) Review and pics here: KLIA Regional Lounge

Good to see the Business/First Lounge getting a makeover. As I said at the time I reviewed it (higher up that thread) :

Overall:
Ambiance is lacking a bit; it might improve with some more people. Food and beverages are OK, however I think the lounge needs a refresh.

For those interested, my experience in July this year:

I arrived at 11pm at the First/Platinum lounge and requested one of the slumber rooms for my 9am A380 to HKG.

The angel advised me that it was okay but I'd have to leave at 3am when they closed for cleaning for two hours. I asked "isn't the lounge 24 hours?" to which the response was: "it is a 24 hour lounge, but we close for two hours of cleaning?" ..... huh?

Anyway, another lady eventually let me sleep and said you may hear some noise at 3am cleaning but you'll be okay if you sleep through it.

The business lounge doesn't have the slumber rooms, but if you're Plat or flying First I'd definately try to convince them to let you sleep through.

Not before time. I found the men's facilities very ordinary. Shower rooms cramped and no seating nor space to place your clothes whilst showering. I felt like I was standing in dirty water in the shower cubicle. All a bit grubby imo. The toilets were below standard, I found it difficult to reconcile I was in a J lounge.

On both outbound and return transits that I experienced the connecting flights were at least an hour delayed.

I liked the MH Sydney lounge which was clean including the toilets. Great cooked food available to order and a nice bar as well.

The men's showers in the satellite F lounge are significantly better than the showers in the J section of the same lounge.

Transited through KUL in June this year. EK flight from MEL arrived in Satellite terminal, connecting flight departing from main (regional) terminal. SG/J access at the time.

I had read online that Satellite lounge much better than regional, off I went to Satellite J lounge. Angel reminded me my flight departs from other terminal but was very welcoming. Nice open space, noodle bar, then I went into the showers, WTF!!!

Closer to boarding time went over to regional lounge, expecting something sub-par. To my surprise, I preferred the regional lounge, and the showers/bathroom was modern and spacious. Food options very similar.

Is the airports VIP lounge the same dingy room that Plaza Premium lounge used early last year during their refit? Nearly everything was horrible..... Plaza's new lounge is a big improvment if you can't access these alternate lounges at KLIA though they don't have any showers.

I believe so!

Bugger. Didn't have a chance to visit the MH lounge in the satellite terminal one last time before it closed at the end of last month and try to find out what was being planned for the renovations. Flight from LHR delayed, so had to rush for connecting flight to SYD, which didn't give me any time at all to visit the lounge... :(

My next visit will be on Jan 12, so will get to see the lounge freshly renovated.

Hi Guys.

Most likely travelling on MH SYD-KUL-SYD in Y. Using cash+miles on enrich, I only have status with CX Gold. Will be departing probably 19th Nov and returning on 23rd Nov.

I also have priority pass.

Which lounge(s) do you recommend?

At SYD, I think there is a MH lounge and QF J lounge. Will I be able to enter both? Is the QF lounge better?

At KUL I understand the satellite GL is under renovations, so will be stuck with regional lounge. How does the CX lounge and plaza premium compare?

Thanks,
K.

I haven't been into the SYD QF lounge but can recommend the SYD MH lounge. The cooked food to order is worth a try so make sure you haven't eaten beforehand.

ok thanks. I hope they won't reject me being CX gold...

Looks like you can access all Oneworld J lounges using your CX Marco Polo Club Gold (which is equivalent to Oneworld Saphire) with the exception of the QF lounge -
