They've told me 12:45. We'll see.

I actually called Qantas, not to complain, but to ask, and they said it is T-3 for both Melbourne and Sydney. I guest the fact that you can check in all day at Sydney is just a nicety rather than a corporate decision.

Just checked in. The suite (as well as counters) opened at T-3:30 (12:45 for the 16:15 flight)

thank you for the updated information, Qantas seem to keep changing things ...

Hi :)
I'm flying QF9 in March this year. I just booked my positioning flight as I live in Sydney and the flight to London only had first tickets left departing from Melbourne. But I booked my flight to Melbourne at 8am and I'm thinking I'll be sitting waiting to checking for quite a few hours! :(
Any updates on getting to checkin earlier than 12:45???
Will all day checkin be trialled or put in place in Melbourne soon?

If the flight is on one PNR then you'll be checked in and receive BPs all the way through to LHR. In fact even with separate bookings they should be able to check you in.

They are separate but that's good to know so I might call up sus this out! Thanks for the tip :)

As you are flying from Sydney you should be checked through to London and no need to go to the Mel F check in Just go straight through customs and upto the F lounge. Enjoy :D
