I seem to be feeling a wee bit seedy this morning. Must be something I ate...

So much fun with a great balance of familiar faces and new ones

Let's hope that (the FREE wine, not the seedy feeling that is) will entice more familiar faces and new ones next time!

Thanks for coming everyone. Another successful MEL drinks night!

Apologies for being late, it was one of *those* days where stuff just comes up.

Special mention to jetlagger who came down from OOL to attend, and also hosted an after party at the IC for some of the stayers... By some miracle I got out of bed this morning, but look forward to having a 'quiet one' tonight.

Thanks for organising it penegal. When's the next one?

Thanks to Mark for organising this great evening, and for making wine appear like magic both during the event and at the after party.
Was good to meet all that attended the evening, and provided lots of interesting conversation.
Now to figure out why I got home well after midnight. ;)

Great night & lovely to meet you all...
Firstly a belated thanks to Penegal for organising such a lovely night on Wednesday.
For most of yesterday, I was in a recovery position after somewhat overindulgence on the red 'tonics", & my double vision has corrected after neutralising the consumption with copious amounts of H2O.
Some parts of the latter hours of the night are somehow missing from my memory, though I can recall raiding Penegal's private cellar stash in his office before retreating to the IC for the after party night cap.
Whilst in a deep recovery sleep yesterday, around 9am was awoken with the fire alarms screeching 'evacuate, evacuate", startled, I rose to the challenge with a quick dress of robe & slippers & my dishevelled appearance on Collins St. may have shocked a few people at 9am.
After returning to the room, I was surprised to see the empty bottles of the red & beers neatly scattered around the room.
Sure hope the maid doesn't consider me an AA candidate..
Fortunately the IC was very kind in offering a late check out & my stay was again lovely.
The Bear Brass was a great venue, excellent food & drink offerings & hoped we all maintained a sense of decorum at closing time.
IIRC.. what charming, talented & thirsty bunch of AFFers in MEL
I duly look forward to the next MEL drinks night. :D

Cheers jl

Oops it must be me! Once I was on a work trip to AKL and the fire alarms at both the hotel and the office were triggered in the space of a few days, so even back in MEL one of my colleagues will always ask me if there will be an evacuation whenever I visit him at his building...

As a side note, the IC was extremely apologetic & for the record it was fortunately a false alarm caused by a faulty sensor in another room.
I haven't had that evacuation experience for quite a number of years, the last IIRC was in New York on a brisk November morning around 330am which was interesting as well.

Esteemed meeting organize Penegal to the white courtesy phone please.

You need to round up a few friends to welcome Flyertalker boxo, Melbourne (MEL) Dinner DO: Wednesday, 5 June 2013

I'd prefer The Long Room for selfish reasons - the other option Trunk is across the street from my office and I don't need a reminder that they made me redundant (unless I've found a high flying job by then)...
