Yeah it is nice at the Cafe Hyatt, haven't been for years, but its like $45-55 a head isn't it??? Burswood is also not bad but probably cheaper mid week??

The entertainment book idea is ok with me, Hyatt Cafe might be a bit out of my league... but we will see... Sizzler's also has to be in the mix somewhere doesn't it??? ;)

Well, we could see how many Hyatt or Priority Privilege cards a go (I have a PP one).

Alternatively, like last time, we find an Asian (Chinese was last time) cuisine and it was cheap.

I agree that we try and limit our spending.

After a more thorough check of my availability, Wednesday works best for me, but I can probably do Thursday if need be.

If we're thinking cheap Asian rather than buffet, pub or "modern Australian" then Taka on Wellington St or in Shafto Lane is always cheap-as, there's some good cheap Korean in Northbridge and Chinese stuff abounds, but not so sure on prices of city establishments.
Although not Asian, burger joints seem to be in vogue these days and there's a few in the city/Northbridge, but you're looking at >$10 per burger for these "homemade" or "gourmet" style places, so not the cheapest either.

Ultimately I don't really mind what is consumed food-wise, as long as there's some good alcohol there or not far away. :p

I know Shafto Lane, as I often breakfast at one of the establishments there.

We had Chinese at Northbridge I think last time, I can't be certain as Flashware was driving

At Burswood Hotel smorgasbord they told me you can only use one Priority card per table and I have one too.
If we can come up with enough cards the Hyatt cost is halved....if not we can do something else.
With AFF I have been to Chinese and Indian in Perth........what could be next?

Can you bring the clients along too?
We could get them further into travel than they ever thought possible unless they are flight crew already.
Any way if you pick Thursday I will be in MEL as Mrscove is making WP on the flight over so that is a big change from Bronze last year.
With QF JASA broken at the moment I am concerned for you.
I suggest you call them even for a Classic J seat.
Are those JASA points of 160,000 to about 250,000 the new deal for one ways because if it is we might do better meeting in the SQ business lounge in SIN?

Regrettably, and for the second time, I'm a non-starter. Both days clash with engagements foolishly made some time ago.

She is a QF FA, so she's seen enough of the inside of the metal tube.

About to ring those clients - need clarification

JASA is back up, as of this morning. I had of course booked my PER/BNE flight a couple of days ago (red e-deal). Oh well, have another trip back to PER in 2-3 weeks so I'll have to use then (after collecting another 10K in points in the meantime).

Going OT here, but how would you account for JASA's for tax purposes if you are visiting a client?

Well, going by the ATO determinations:

GST treatment of FF points
Income tax & FBT - in particular start at paragraph 19 and the answer at para 20; as well as question at para 21 and answer at para 22.

As the majority of my QFF account are derived from travel (as opposed to CC spend) and that travel is almost in the whole, business travel (paid by me); I have no issue. As there is a direct offset, there are no issues.

If you're looking for somewhere to eat breakfast, a great little place I like for brekkie is The Opal Cafe 134-138 Aberdeen St Northbridge WA 6003. Tel 08 9328 2210.

I might be over there sometime between 14 & 20 May for a day or two so only miss you by a couple of weeks. :-|

oz-mark the way QF charge GST on points is 50/50.
If we get 200k points then 100k have GST on them as they figure about half are used inside OZ and half outside and I would guess that would be a tax ruling but it could be a private ruling.
I am reading all the dining ideas as we are always interested in what is good around Perth.
Obviously when it is just 4 of us with 2 Hyatt dining cards it is less than $30 each so we are very happy with that. The drinks service there is slow to very slow for a second glass.

Perth clients just got back to me. They have guests on Wednesday, so that is the night for our AFF dinner. I have appt planned for Thursday night with them.

So, members who seemed to say they could make Wed night get together are:

Lindsay Wilson
Reggie
V1213
drmikki
cove
StevePER
v8Statesman
11sjw

with possibles: casanovawa

and deep regret from: codash1099

As I'll have just flown in from Brisbane (arriving 6.15pm unless delayed) and I need to get to Hilton (to check in and drop off bags), I'd think that I'll make a start of 7.30pm. Come to think of it, will I have had dinner on the flight (and a J one at that)? I'll have to check, unless someone can advise.

Now to tie down a venue. We seem to have Priority Privilege cards, HPC discounts etc amongst us; but I am mindful of members who may prefer (from a $ perspective) that we go cheaper. Is there any consensus?

Yes there is still food served on QF despite the cost controls.
Maybe we need to find a quieter drinks place that won't get us entry to the ED.

Yup, you should get a decent J dinner so food's probably not such a good plan.
I'm good to just meet up at a watering hole rather than a restaurant.

yeah i'm good to meet up at about 8pm onwards for drinks just let me know when and where... several different bars around perth or nothbridge...

My son thought The Royal in East Perth for a water view and should be quiet enough mid week for drinks.I think it is next to the Sebel and you walk down a staircase to get to the waterside.

I am confirmed for Wednesday, the Royal sounds good.
