Meet a moderator in Sydney! Saturday 3rd September

But latish Saturday evenings?

Latish; buses should still be running and the last train to Wolli Creek leaves from Town Hall at 12:24am Sunday (Wynyard a few mins later). That means getting on a bus in Neutral Bay around midnight.

Like I said before, I'm not fussed - and the city probably keeps everyone to one method of transport (eg: one bus or one train) to get back to their respective accommodation :)

I will be back for Fathers Day dinner in Perth so all is aok Bill so I thought that one through!

I do hope we can find a decent place in the city. I don't really feel like going to Neutral Bay especially to a pub.

The chance to meet JohnK proved too great so I booked to come over from Perth so I am now a definite.
Really?

Thinking about it the only places I am familiar with in Sydney city are Circular Quay thru to David Jones so it will be an adventure for me provided it isn't Smithfield or Wetherill Park in the country.
You are right about Smithfield and Wetherill Park though. ;)

Ok, in the absence of a consensus - I'll throw in the suggestion of King Street Brewhouse (formerly James Squire) on King St Wharf.

Nice location with a decent range of drinks on offer, and a few mins walk from train stations and buses on George St.

They have decent bar food, and there's plenty of other places around should we decide to move on for dinner. They take all forms of credit cards including AMEX.

The web site is http://www.kingstbrewhouse.com.au/, but as of writing seems to be down.

I considered about coming along to this but as Sunday is fathers day I thought better of it.
I just had Fathers Day dinner tonight as I have to be in KL over the weekend :(. Hope you all have fun and I'll be thinking of you while working all weekend

I was quite happy to go Lucetta Pizzeria e Trattoria Menus (but it closes at 10pm); it has BYO, not sure whether it is $5 per table or per bottle. Ewing's suggestion of http://www.kingstbrewhouse.com.au/index.php/menus/function-menus looks good too but not sure if BYO allowed.

As it is a Saturday night (no one should be at work!!), shall we make a time of 630pm? No problems for those arriving a little later. I suggest we decide between the two places and make a booking ASAP:idea:...after all it is only 3 nights away!

PS Alanslegal, I know you are reading this thread...come along! You are SYDNEY based!

PPS given that we have 3 attendees coming around 10pm, shall we make it King Street Brewhouse? The other place closes at 10pm!!

Pls add me to the After 10pm.

I will be heading from out west around 9pm so should hit the City by 10pm. I live in Ultimo so if its a late night, I'm good to go!

kpc, i'll send you a sms that night to see what's the status.

LOL yeah I am following this thread w/ interest but couldn't confirm or not confirm my plans. Need to visit the folks that night for dinner, so can come out for drinks from 10pm onwards.

Would love to come and meet some of the Sydney members, but seeing as Sunday is father's day and I've been overseas for the last two, I better spend the day with my kids :)

...
Ok, I'll leave it to you guys to work out. Needs to be reasonably priced, central, bookable, and, Oh, I'll eat just about anything. :D (BYO could be good too, eh, mhen ;))

Looking forward to this - most of my MR's are (by nature) rather solitary affairs ...
All looking good and the suggestions are fine - firming up a consensus soon would be desirable.

Looking forward to this ... :D

I would prefer somewhere along George St as I would be coming in/going home on the 423 bus.

Love that 423. I ride it ten times a week... and am pretty much bound to it too. King St wharf is the end of the 412, isn't it, which means it intersects with 423 at Marrickville Rd (+1 block) and Warren Road (+1 block). A bit late to the party here. I'm a relative newbie so haven't ever met anyone from AFF IRL. Actually, I feel like a bit of a pretender, having answered the Velocity status match questionnaire with "8 domestic, 4 international per year" which looks like peanuts next to all of you lot... Don't know if I can come along, but have a great time, all of you.

Tork.

I have added you to the confirmed list.

Move me to the after dinner drinks group, just in case my +1 makes me stay with my 10% international flight surcharge (aka <2 year old daughter) for dinner... Mind you, she may ban my going entirely. Will try, though.

King St Brewhouse sounds fine to me and 6:30pm is OK by me.

Do we have to have the function menu? Can't order from the bar menu/lower deck menu on the night?

Either way I guess this is going to be a longish night so perhaps best not to organise golf for the next day. ;)

All,

I have now booked a table at King St Brewhouse for 6:30pm on Saturday.

Booked under Shaun Ewing from Australian Frequent Flyer for 8 people.

I'm sure if more people turned up we would be able to accommodate them though.

Looking forward to it!

Sounds good.

I don't really remember King Street but I hope it is a safe walk from George St....
