Ok I've got an 8 night stay at crowne plaza Darwin this week.. I've just joined PC tonight and added a few promo codes from post 1 (Thanks markis)..

These are the codes i've added in my account, should I be adding anymore?

Promotion STAY 7 NIGHTS, GET 10K POINTS
Promotion WELCOME BACK BONUS
Promotion WEEKEND STAY BONUS
Promotion ELITE MEMBER NEXT STAY BONUS

It looks like I can transfer the points to airline miles later on at a rate of 10,000points to 2,000 miles... if i wanted miles am i better off just doing a direct miles earn, if so how do i change that preference (couldn't see it)?

Thanks :)

Didn't post for me. I queried them and they reckoned I wasn't eligible for that bonus. I couldn't find what the T&C'S were. As said before it looks like the bonus was either tied to stays at US properties and/or US residents. I could have pushed the matter, but considering I earnt 20k points for a 3 night stay, with 15% cashback and comp breakfast, I didn't really want to be too greedy! ;)

I've never got the weekend bonus either. The problem is without the T&Cs it's hard to know what restrictions on earning there are!

Why not try them all including the ninety day ones.

Is the ANNIVERSARY BONUS still going ?? 1,000 points per night/stay ( can't remember which). Other one is ROLES FOR ROOMS which is STAY based

Wasn't sure if I could do that... thanks I just registered for all that I could... But i still can't find where to change my earning to airline miles instead of points if I wanted to? Does everyone here generally earn points? Whats the best value for them?

Log in, click on manage account (just under the log in on the top right), then under quick links on the right hand side click on manage earning preference.

I think the best value for PC is free stays.

Airline earning is only really good when its an Aussie IC or when there is a bonus on like DJ offering 2X, as many of the bonus point schemes dont trigger for miles earners.

Thanks Jacques, I was looking at the links on the left...

So staying at Crowne Plaza earns 3points per dollar, the cost of my stay is around $1500 so around 4,500 QFF points.

Or it looks like I can earn PC points and with all these promos I might earn around 30,000 points, which should convert to around 6,000 QFF points..

So it looks like even if I want QFF points I'm best to earn the PC points then transfer manually...?

...or use those 30K points for either 1 night award accom (my internal valuation is based on the standard room rate for the property chosen) or some Points Stretcher award bookings (which will exponentially increase the value of the points).

Once earned in a FF/FG program, points are quickly devalued when seeking to transfer. My rule of thumb, use them where you earn them. Now CC programs are a different ballgame :D

Just always leave 5K in the account, for when points breaks get updated (every one or two months, next one is due before Dec10)

Hello Ferni,

If you earn 30,000 points you are already Gold and half way to a Platinum card! Unlike Accor which is very hit and miss, I find status recognition with IC is quite good: I have received many upgrades, free Internet, etc., + of course, the 50% bonus points. IIRC, PC works on a calendar year basis (others here may be able to confirm this) so you would have to earn the additional points before Dec 31 to make Platinum or be happy with gold.

Of course the other advantage of points is that you can convert them to airline miles/points with many airlines at the time you need to, if that is the best value at the time.

I tried a lot of the 'older' codes - nothing worked. All come up with either 'already registered' or 'code invalid' messages.

I've only got four current codes registered, so not a lot really ...
