Marriott Bonvoy

This time is was bookings.com. I just look randomly when I think of it. Amazing that some people might actually pay the first price.

With an 11 hour transit, I was looking for a day room at DFW. I came across this site : dayuse.com for 7 hours USD79. That's quite a saving over a normal bkg.

Provided my most basic details and rec'd an email saying I am booked and to do nothing more - just show up. ;)

I will wait a bit and try to phone the hotel. How do I find the direct phone number?

Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Marriott * * * *
8440 Freeport Parkway, Irving, TX, USA

Guest: (xx_x)

Dayuse booking number: (xx_xx_xx_xx_)

Date: x, June x 2020

Time slot: 09:00 - 16:00

If you click the link you provided it is under the address section: 855 378 5969

That's the phone number for dayuse.com (I thought I'd deleted it sufficiently). Still hope to call the hotel direct.

Sorry mate ..60 mins. of your life you will not get back ..as you can see Marriott (unlike the ol' SPG) is secretive about direct contacts.

I looked in our GDS and found these numbers:

1 972 929-8800 (which is the one you called before however ...you may have zeroed out which kicks you over to Marriott general sales line ..listen to the prompts and try to get a hotel sales or front desk or something like that ..that is a local dallas # and not a generic Marriott #)
and I also found this #
1 972 929-6501

and this email: [email protected]

That's Marriott central booking number. (I got a totally incompetent 'Platinum' agent. :(

Thanks for that, will try again later.

Hanging out at the bus stop for the bus that never arrives ..I just called 1 972 929-8800 and it is the whole's direct line ...just press 0 after the autoattendant picks up to get the hotel directly ..if you choose reservations then it will go to marriott call center.

I made another reward booking in case I can’t come back via HKG which necessitated another 3 nights in NYC 👍.
Booked for USD1330+. Immediately did a BRG and the price went down to 690. That’s a very generous discount 😁

@get me outta here you have made this an art form ...I am going to be more vigilant on my bookings in the future (esp. if I go to the big apple) as you have cleared the path to a lifetime of BRGs

Looks like a 50% bonus points offer is now on:

I've not purchased points before from Marriott. Any tricks/traps to be aware of?

From what I can see there could be some good value for me. Possible examples:

1) Would cost approx. AUD$620 (US$400) for 50,000 Marriott points. That's the amount needed to buy 5 nights in Dallas. Cash price is AUD$917 for those 5 nights on hotels.com and similar on the Marriott website.

2) A hotel I'm looking at in Omaha is listed as 85,000 points or AUD $1564 for 6 nights. Buying the points costs approx. AUD $1080(US$700)

The only suggestion I would make is that once purchased you book quickly using the points. They tried to get me to pay more points for a room I booked once it took along time to sort out and only provided 10,000 points for the inconvenience and time it took to sort out.
Which Dallas hotel variety only charges 10k a night?

Well nothing in the CBD, but there are plenty not far outside the CBD, including:

TownePlace Suites Dallas Lewisville 731 East Vista Ridge Mall Drive Lewisville

About 70kms out of town (too far for me) there are places for 35,000 for 5 nights.

Looks like you have done the homework Dr Ron ...all good looking to me.

If things get delayed a little and your worried the hotel will sell out of rooms you can always use Marriott 'Points Advance' feature ..but you should get the points super quick.

What is Points Advance?

Points Advance is a benefit that allows members to reserve their room while earning the Points needed for the redemption stay. When the Points needed are earned, you can log in and attach your Points to the reservation. With Points Advance, you'll be reserving your room, not your rate when making a reservation this way. The only way to lock in the redemption rate at the time of booking is to fully use your Points to book your redemption reservation.

After many hours making contiguous BRG and reward bookings, I now have to let the lot go. Thought I might ring up the platinum line and see if they’ll let me have all the same dates at that low price next year. Ridiculous I know, but worth a try. Any other suggestions?

After much to-ing and fro-ing, and all sorts of current problems complicating things, I spoke to an ‘elite‘ agent Just before I became a no-show. She gifted me 20,000 points to cover any that may be required as extra for a booking next year. So happy with the outcome eventually.
