Marriott Bonvoy

Their website says open 6-9pm Friday and Saturday. That is very restricted hours of opening.
Yes .. well spotted. They have dialled down their service levels (isn't everyone at the moment?).

The only option when dining now is 3 or 4 courses A La Carte and 7 course Degustation menus featuring Michelin Star-trained chef Raphael Szurek's most popular classic dishes.

Has anyone noticed how the dynamic pricing for rewards is going these days?

(My 6n points stay at SYD Harbour Marriott in July kept going down bit by bit I kept re-booking it).

I've found it quite good.... Surprisingly.

We have a 7night JW Marriott Grosvenor House stay for next year that we've managed to claw back 7000pts due to it dropping every now and then

I have a short stay in Tokyo to book after a long flight. From NRT, any Marriotts one simple direct ride away without connections preferably.
(Sadly by then my platinum will have run out).

I have 3 n w’ a late arrival. Yes, none of them seem to be terribly convenient or within walking distance of a few things to look at.
Have enjoyed swanning around Shibuya in the past.
Have just today received ACCOR Gold, so may need to investigate that.

Unfortunately not much close to Narita at all .. are you going in to the city i.e. how short is your stay?

The Courtyard is the most central and easiest to access from NRT IMO. You can catch the Keisei Narita Sky Access line, which turns into the Toei Asakusa line and goes directly to Higashi-ginza station, which is a 350m walk from Courtyard.

Hi, booking a reward stay on the app it now will not take the booking unless I put a credit card “on file”. I was sure in the past I could just add the cc to the bookings details. Is this a new thing or have I got muddled? 🧐

Not new. I regularly get this requirement.

I've booked 45 nights so far for the US as reward bookings in 2023 and every booking required the credit card details.

I’ve also done a lot of bookings, but I’ve never in the past as far as I remember had to put a credit card “on file”. And I’m not too keen on putting it on file since they’ve been hacked.

Not an issue for me as the card will soon be churned. What about using an expired card if you're concerned?

The Sydney Harbour Marriott breakfast was pretty good whilst it was in the proper restaurant but now it’s gone back to the undersized underwhelming lounge. I’d like a proper restaurant breakfast if anyone has had one in Sydney very recently?
Pier One ‘the Gantry’ restaurant is not open for breakfast. So how is the lounge?
That only leaves the Sheraton. Have never stayed there so would appreciate any thoughts.

Pre covid the Sheraton lounge offerings were really good for brekkie and in the evenings. one of the best lounges I have experienced.
Don't know what it is like now though.

Good to know - I was considering a sunday breakfast outing at Marriott just last weekend, but couldn't figure out where to book online.

Stayed ar the Kimpton Margot about six weeks ago and the breakfast was menu of fruit/cereal plus hot dish and coffee/tea. Delicious, very civil compared to a buffet breakfast. Luke Mangan's restaurant iirc

The breakfast at Marriott is $45, but as a platinum member, they will only charge $20. Not sure at that price you have to be a hotel guest. The underwhelming lounge, breakfast is still available free.

Another stay as plat at SYD Harbour Marriott. These are the Exec lounge hours now. I was planning on doing the $20 (instead of $45) buffet breakfast in Silvesters, but the lounge breakfast was fine and there were three of us.
I overheard at check in a lady who said she was gold status was told she’d get access to the lounge. Is that always the case I thought you had to be platinum + ? If so that will suit me because I’ll be down to gold soon.

That person was wrong. Bonvoy lounge access is Platinum and Titanium only.
