Making the most out of the whole glorious Qantas First Class Experience

I was travelling from MEL to KHR and then onto mainland Europe. I arrived in T3 (QF F) and my connecting flight was from T5 (BA J). I was on a USDM-issued ticket. About a week before the flight I received an email from BA with the headline "Pre-flight services email". The first item in the email was "Request a Spa treatment--As a First passenger you can pre-book an appointment at The Elemis Spa before you travel.--Spoil yourself before you fly. Spas are available in Terminal 3 and Terminal 5.--To book an appointment please call: 0800 408 7667 from inside the UK, or +44 161 448 3013 from outside."

I called the number and I was told I was not eligible. I called it again a couple of days later and the reservation was taken and a confirmation number was provided. The outcome was described above.

I understand now. QF F passengers have no access to Spa treatments at T5. I'm not sure why the email system incorrectly sent it out to you. The first agent telephoned was correct.

But they do have access to the T3 Spa?

There's no Spa in T3. It closed a year or two ago. Reports on FT that it will re-open in October 15. I'm referring to the BA Elemis Spa as that's what the OP received the email for.
The No1 traveller Spa is the one QF are currently using for F pax at T3. It's available to anyone. Short list of complimentary treatments for QF F passengers. I have had all my appointments booked after check-in by the First Host

Ok thanks, it's more clear now.
Can be nice to get short massage JAL F style before boarding (then another one in DXB off course ;) ).

It is a ten minute treatment - sometimes extended a little. The actual treatment is okay but the general reception and "attitude" in the relevant lounge combined to make me decide to give it all a miss on recent visits.
As always, YMMV. :)
Thanks. I'm guessing they are just shorter versions of what is already on the spa menu?

Interesting, will try it next week.
Would be interested in some feedback if you wouldn't mind.. if you could find out what is/isn't offered, that would be great.

Just had a look for some info on the DXB EK F Timeless Spa.. looks like everything is 15min, for all pax eligible for entry? ie. no preferential treatment for F pax..?
Interesting to see they have a hair salon too.

15 min is perfect time for short connections.
I've tried the head and shoulder massage, it was very nice :)

As reported previously, hair salon treatments are no longer available, on a complimentary basis, for F pax.
Fifteen minute massage is still available and, based on my two sessions to date, the back massage is good. :)

I was not impressed at all, but I drowned my sorrow in a number of bigger-than-usual shots of JW Blue :)

A few generous glasses of Johnnie Walker Blue Label should resolve any feelings, any feelings at all. It's a lovely smoky whisky. Of course it's not cheap, at $250 a bottle at DMs.

Exactly! And even though I don't particularly enjoy whiskey, I specifically had it to ensure I cost them as much as a spa treatment would have ;-)

Apparently the No.1 Spa complementary treatment should have been booked by the First Host who never bothered to call me. It can be booked on the spot but rarely have any spots less then two hours before boarding (that's what they told me at least).
Anyways, their loss... Now I have time to finish this JW Blue bottle before boarding :)

That is the exact sequence of events I had :) Except I did not manage to finish the damn bottle(s) ;-)

I have managed to have the spa treatment without prior booking on a couple of occasions but, as I've said previously, I don't think it's worth fretting about.
I don't drink JW but a decent Champagne would be as good a use of the pre-boarding time. :)

They only had the standard Taittinger in the Flounge, which is not bad at all but no point drinking too much of that when something much better awaits onboard ;)

For QF9 MEL-xDXB-LHR, last time I did this, the transit in DXB required you to go through security screening again (with the LAGs restrictions as usual). Is that the same for QF10 LHR-xDXB-MEL? I can't remember, but do they check again for LAGs from the DXB F lounge?

I'm also travelling in F with my Mum in Y on QF9 (I know people will disapprove, but she doesn't mind and prefers to spend the money elsewhere). This may be a faux pas, but what is the view on asking the FAs to bring her into F right before descent so that we can disembark together? Reason why I ask is that a few years ago, in PE on QF10, I had a friend in Y who I asked for PE champagne to be brought to - then right before descent, the FA proactively asked if I wanted to bring my same friend up to PE so we could deplane together. Mind you, this was the old A380 PE and it was a very light cabin - 25% occupancy or thereabouts.

It seems like you're asking for your mother to be seated in F for the last 30 minutes of the trip and then to deplane with you. Basically it won't happen. You'll get off the plane at LHR and then wait for her to deplane and then walk together to immigration.

I tried a couple of years ago to drink my bodyweight in bubbles! starting in the Flounge first and then lots more onboard (I suspect there was a fair bit of evaporation) plus it would be a waste to leave any to go flat.....quite a contrast in the Flounge where there seems to be no limit to the amount offered (especially if you are extra nice to the staff) compared to a thread elsewhere about the ordinary (;)) Qantas lounges & inconsistent policies in different cities eg staff citing RSA. It seemed to be a cough shoot dependent upon the individual managers! First World - or should I say First Class problem
