Made a double booking on a non refundable Hilton AP purchase room rate , so $2400 came out of the account instead of $1200.
Thankfully a positive ending after a late night phone call to Hilton AP desk, they could cancel the double up and a refund will be back onto the CC in 5/7 days

If visiting Cambridge specifically because you want to see Kings college chapel again, make sure to check that it's not graduation time, because you won't be allowed in.

Booked a CR via Hong Kong over another routing because of the attraction of lounges for a 6 hour stopover with OWE status. Of course, the onward leg is with Jetstar Japan and the alternative routing is now unavailable…

Oneworld lounge access rules cover connections between oneworld carriers. Jetstar Japan would make the rule unapplicable, unfortunately.

Not a true mistake, but a dilemma of my own making. Inching towards LTP picked up a BA J, ARN > LHR, then LHR > VIE at less than $5 a SC. Dilemma is arrive LHR at 22:35 and depart next day at 7:35. Thinking of snoozing in the lounge (which I have done on too many occasions), but it closes at 10pm. Aerohotel wants £230 for the few hours, so do I sleep in Terminal 3? I've gone the option of the Renaissance for £100, so bumps up the cost of SC. Bugger!!!!!!

Pre-paid an Avis booking (not realising cancellations incur an $82.50 charge) only to have AMEX issue me a 25% rebate offer the very next morning. Time will tell whether I get the credit, but I'm not counting on it.

Family of 4 and we rocked up to the airport for a trip to the US, only to discover my teenage son's ESTA had expired. I only checked mine in advance, assuming we'd all re-applied at the same time last time (we hadn't).

Risky, but the rest of us flew while we put him up at the airport hotel overnight and got him on a flight the next morning. Not fun.
