Thanks Johnk for the T-80 hours tip. I am flying Y on Saturday to MEL on a 738. As an SG, I was only able to pre-select seats from row 11 backwards. But at T-80 hour, I can select seats from row 4.

I've got a trip to CBR this week. Whilst I can obtain seats in rows 4/5 in the other flights (utilising T-80 and OLCI), I canNOT go any further up than row 13 for 2 flights SYD-CBR and CBR-SYD (both on 744 aircraft**). Lordy, are there that many WPs on these 2 flights?!?!!

**: I mean, 734

I hope you mean a 734 and not a jumbo! Yes the general expectation is that there will be many CL and Platinums on these flights so Advance Seat Selection maintains the zones for each status as much as possible.

 734 aircraft indeed.

With these many CL and Platinums, I wonder if/how the CSM manages (if at all) to greet and meet each and everyone of them. What fun that would be.

I just managed to get row 24 today for tomorrow and ive been checking daily for weeks but still cant get row 23.

Just managed to get row 1 on the way back :) (I'm silver)

I flew MEL-SYD last week around lunchtime on a 767 which was virtually empty.

As a NB using OLCI at around T-20 there was only 1 seat available for me (38J) and my seq # was 24. Interesting that even if the plane is almost empty as NB I still cannot select a decent seat using OLCI. I noted that rows 23/24 only had the window seats taken...and similar to many of the other rows (window seats only).

This has happened to me as a Platinum.

I think if the load is going to be very light then Qantas takes into consideration the trim/balance of the aircraft and only allows allocation of seats accordingly.
