Seems that India is only a part of Asia....
Asia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Let me elaborate a bit, it was not meant to be offensive, as I said, I believe Australia should consider itself as part of Asia, and get over the concept that we are an outpost of blighty. But, as another poster has mentioned, queuing is a concept (along with most ideas of "personal space") that is just not part of much of Asia. You do know they had queuing up lessons for the residents of Beijing before the 2008 Olympics? (BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | China to eradicate queue-jumping). Is it good or bad? I dont know, but thats just how it is.

Have you ever tried waiting upon a ticket booth at any railway station in India?

India's fine - you know where you stand as no-one even tries to queue. I've found it more frustrating in China, where it seems in some situations half the people queue and the other half don't - a bit like the QP really.

LOL , as long as its consistent ;)

Ahh yes, the intention of my original post.

.. I find most people of today to be less tolerant, more aggressive & very selfish.. It's all about the 'me" attitude.. Oh yes.. when they have talked about themselves for the past 30 mins & their wonderful accomplishments.. I certainly lose interest very quickly.. It is no different on the roads, or in the lounge, or on the flights.. It's just a sad plight of modern day society.. & all of us view & experience it everyday in so many situations.. Really satisfied when the brave challenges the ignorant about their less than polite behaviour.. Class, culture, caste, education, earning capacity, status & any other demographic is irrelevant in many cases.. They are just plain rude & obnoxious people.. I do for one speak my mind nowadays, without regret to justify my fairness & sanity for myself & to my fellow (in the case of this thread) traveller... But yes, have experienced all of the situations mentioned.. It's kind of a selfish 'Mr Bean" scenario in many cases.. with at times the guy in the Lowes suit & Kmart shoes executive wan... giving me that up & down look.. attempting to belittle me, I am never phased.. I just think you poor soul.

The ones with money don't queue. Queues are for poor people.

Debatable: The queues are for the ' Questionable - compliant form of society of the modern & civilised times" I often find the queue jumpers are the same "tax evaders, seat hoggers, locker snatchers, lane demons on the roads" - rude, arrogant, selfish individuals, that we all experience.. in every 'corner" of the globe..
BTW, I have money, yet I still diligently queue, or at least my Chinese & other civilised staff always does, with respect & kindness - moneyed or not..

OK My experience of China is Shanghai (and Hong Kong to be technical), so it may be different elsewhere, but I never noticed that queuing was non-existent. Given I visited expo whilst there, where there was a lots of really long queues to get into anywhere, had such etiquette been out the window it would have been very noticeable.

Both mrsdrron and I noticed a lot of bad etiquette in the lines at the Expo in Shanghai for the 3 days we went there.

Its funny about a queue at the Qantas Club found its way to non existent queues in China, India Hong Kong etc..to childrens eating habits...correlations between suits and queues and on and on Good reading though:D

I lived there for four years. The closest thing to queuing being existent may have been a sign saying 'queue here' (as in at a MacDonalds, or in a police station). It was certainly treated like most other rules in China... a 'suggestion' at best :)

Today I think the SYD QANTAS Club staff need the etiquette lessons. Been in the lounge for less than an hour and heard 3 announcements about 2 for 1 Q Tags. Really annoying!!

You'd imagine that it has squat all to do with etiquette, but more management direction...

Sometimes I wish they were like AA lounges.

No announcements, you simply go to your gate when the board says to.

What??? ... you wait that long??

With AA I don't trust any board, I depart the lounge to be at the gate 40 minutes before departure.

I couldn't agree more! Especially as in many cases the announcements are either way to early for close gates or too late for far gates meaning a very fast walk, jog or run otherwise you risk having no overhead locker space!

No, that's what I mean.

I leave to be at the gate right when boarding is due to commence :)
