Arrived into Singapore early morning desperate for a shower with 6 hours before a CX flight, took me 20 minutes to get access to the QP biz lounge and was granted access as a once off!

Given I had a same day flight with a one world partner why was an attempt made to redirect me to a CX lounge that would not be open for 3 hours! Did I miss something, after all the only reason I chose CX over a much cheaper Deathstar option was so I could get lounge access!

Amazing their own staff don't know the rules and regulations of the alliance, let alone for the purpose of their employment.

Sounds like you did well not loose it after the red eye.

I arrived in the early am last year with a 12 hour transit ahead of me before my CX flight.

I had no problems getting into the J lounge as an SG, but was informed it would be closing for an 1½ hours as soon as my inbound QF31 went on to LHR. I had a shower and when I came out and there was nobody there. I plonked myself at one of the workstations for ¾ hour then went out past the unattended desk. The automatic glass sliding doors were 'locked', only opening for people exiting.

Maybe they were looking for such a quiet time in your case.

As a OneWorld Sapphire member you are entitled to use any OneWorld lounge when your next onward flight (same day) is a OneWorld operated and marketed flight. So there is no reason to be denied access to the joint QF/BA lounge in SIN.

I would send an email to [email protected] asking them to clarify the access rules for such situations, and if they agree with your understanding ask them to please educate the Singapore lounge agents regarding the rules so this does not happen again.

Thanks NM, I explained the above to the agent but she insisted that CX forced them to redirect Saphire members to their lounge! Will certainly provide some feedback to QF.

This is possibly because QF will charge CX for the lounge access, and perhaps CX refuse to for it??? But that does not change the access rules which are clearly published. And the fact that the CX lounge was not even open kills that arguement anyway.

With a six hour transit at Singapore, I'd be almost inclined to suggest checking into the airside Transit Hotel.

Nah, Changi is not a bad place at all. Besides you can take a free city tour.

Did that but they did not have a room until 5.30 and I was a bit raw after 7 hours on QF31 which was quite full in Y. Having got some sleep in the transit hotel things are looking much better (good value for the $50AUD). In the Skyview lounge now which is my first visit, actually like it, good food choices and JW Black on tap, and the view is good when you have in interest in Aviation!

Would have gone on a city tour if it was not my 50th visit to Singapore, so I am happy just to lounge at changi.

One thing that I was disappointed in with in Singapore when I was coming through on QF31, is that the QP F Lounge does not open until an hour after the flight departs on to London!

Was a little frustrating after a disappointing SYD-SIN sector...

D P G from Dubai!

I think the transit hotel can get quite popular at times and if you know at the time you book your flights that you might want to consider booking into the hotel, it's often a good idea to go online and make a reservation in advance.

(Metaphorically I hope!) :?

BTW, I like the skyview lounge, as indicated, good food and a nice view...

Fair enough.. really it's just a bus to a bumboat ride and back; it does pass the time however. For QF31 last year I had the centre 4 seats of row 35 to myself so had a four seater bed and was not too weary.

Have to definately say the Skyview lounge was a pleasure, not sure if they had showers etc but for the short time I did use it, it was very good.

Also enjoyed the 777 CX flight although having 30H was helpfull (easy to get when you checking 47 hours in advance) and I liked the camera in the belly, pity CX dont give out rating cards for the pilots driving ability keeping to the centre line!

As for the transit hotel, I actually tried to book and got told it was booked out which is why I changed my flights bringing them forward a day, it worked well and the 4 hours sleep was priceless.

Wonder how you get a round of golf on the course at the airport in BKK, looks like a plane spotters paradise although I suspect it is a military course from the lack of fences separating it from the runways!

As you can probably guess I am doing a few status runs on AY over the next few days so it will be interesting to check out if there are any other lounge dragons out there. I found QF31 one of the more pleasurable flights for an overnighter and I would take it again, pity it is being discountinued in its current format, it certainly gives you an option of working all day then flying to Asia.

Skyview Lounge has a couple of showers down to the far left of entry and upstairs a bit. QP showers far better.

(One does get to reconnoiter a bit on a ½day transit ) :?

It is the Kantarat Golf course and is one of the golf courses owned by the Royal Thai AirForce.

I think you may need to book ahead. I have wanted to have a game of golf there since I first saw it 3 years ago. :)

The SQ showers are also better.

Yeah; they're only a short train ride away... or a looonnnggg walk.

Its not that far - SkyView lounge is at base of D pier, SQ lounge just past the base of E pier. That distance is much less than the distance from one end of T1 to the other end of T1 (or one end of T2 to the other end of T2).

I had no idea where the SQ lounge was; never been there. I know the Skyview lounge is relatively close to that end of the terminal and the train.

I have also done the airside walk between the terminals and it's quite a distance. :? IIRC I counted 11 gates from d42 to e20, imagine walking past 11 747's lined up wingtip to wingtip.

Distance is under 1km IIRC. If you think that's bad well it's close to 2km from one end of T2 to the other (similarly T1) - try doing that when you had a 50 minute connection to start with but shortened to 20 minutes due to late inbound (and on separate tickets so not protected). Not easy lugging carryon and running (since strict gate close at departure minus 10 minutes).
