Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

Hi hi just as an update to this we arrived in Dubai pretty exhausted and looking forward to a refreshing break in the lounge. However we were flatly denied access on the basis that the two children did count as additional guests. We spoke with a supervisor who refused to be flexible and stated that since all QF guests are charged back to the airline, we would need prior written dispensation from Qantas that they were prepared for the kids to be let in. Of course there was a simple way he could have bent the rules and just not scanned their boarding passes but he obviously wasn't interested in that.

Very annoying but in the end irrelevant since the transit time was so short we boarded pretty much immediately. None the less it would have been more important if there was some sort of delay. I spoke with QF customer service in London and they basically shrugged their shoulders and said the EK guy was lying and that it's not up to QF to provide access to that lounge.

Wow, thanks for reporting back and sorry that your experience didn't mirror mine.

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

This does make it difficult for families flying through DXB.
Surely some of these finer details of the arrangement with EK could be subject to some tweaking?

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

Unfortunately I think you're right - you needed the max fare. Not sure if you can add this now, how much that would be, and whether it's even worth it.

Thanks MEL_Traveller, would a couple of Qantas Club complimentary passes let us gain access to the SYD J Lounge even though we're travelling JQ? Thanks for your reply.

Check the terms and conditions on the back of card. I think some are restricted to domestic? But otherwise yes - they are valid! I gave one to a friend a couple months ago and they used it no problem before a JQ flight to SIN.

Hi, question please:

VA gold member flying on a VA flight number / SQ metal, will I get lounge access in CMB? Thanks in advance.

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

just looking at a booking with mileage plus for TG F from SYD <BKK> TPE for late Jan.

The option is for the 2200 flight out of Sydney which arrives at 0325 in BKK with a 7.25 connecting flight to TPE.

It works well for me as I'll have been working some grave yard shifts so can sleep most of the day before my flight.

I know the TG lounges open at 0500.

Anyone had experience where they allow an F passenger to wait in the lounge before 0500, or would I have to do a lap or 2 of the terminal before the lounge opens?

AFAIK you have to wait until 5am.

A few years ago when TG changed their schedule and had an ~0300 arrival into BKK they opened a business class lounge where everyone could wait. Not sure if they have done that again now?

On their web site seems both J and F lounges have same opening hours.

1.5 hours wont kill me to walk around and burn off some of the alcohol & food I'll have consummed

Will have to see what I can wrangle. Love to be able to have a shower once I land.

7 hours is pretty much right on the border of 'going up the wall crazy'. I had a similar connection to ICN, but thankfully 4pm-1130pm. Even pacing myself with an hour for email, and hour for massage, another hour for email, an hour for a 'walk' and an hour for something to eat... I was really pushing the boat out to keep occupied.

I decided I would go to a hotel if faced by a similar transit in future. You can get them for around USD30-40 - close to the airport and they even have a car and driver waiting at the arrival hall to collect you.

Oh I only have a 4 hr transit. Arrive at 0320 and then TPE flight at 0720

Was hoping I could shower and grab a nap in the F lougue - assuming I'd have access since arriving TG F and leaving TG J on 2 class flight.

Ah - sorry I misread your departure time for the transit time!

Yes - you'll have F lounge access arriving F and connecting to J or Y.

You'll also have the 30 minute spa treatment.

edited after reading kiwitripper's post - you'll be collected in a buggy anyway arriving F (provided you're at a buggy gate).

Re: Advice for LAX lounging

I am sure this has been answered before but I just can't find it:

I am flying BNE - HKG (CX) - NRT (JAL) - LAX (JAL) then connecting to my side trip LAX - MIA - SXM (AA) - All in Business (J).

I have a 3hr stopover in HKG and 11 hrs in LAX.

I am WP but flying on my AA Plat (OW Sapphire) number. If I understand the rules correctly, I can access the Wing First Class in HKG and QF Flounge in TBIT. This is from the oneworld website:

This means you can relax or catch up with work in comfort and style before departure, regardless of which oneworld member airline you choose to fly with.
To be eligible, you must be departing on a flight that is both marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline.

The AA limitations don't come into it because I am arriving on an International flight connecting to a domestic one. Is this correct?

Yes you will be able to access all of those lounges in theory. QF might be a bit sticky at LAX as they inserted a clause along the lines of "lounge access with your QFF number in the booking " IIRC.

I snagged an AA award seat PER-xSYD-AUH in EY F. I'll be travelling overnight from Perth and will then have 15 hours before the EY flight. As it's the one ticket I assume QF will check me through to AUH from Perth and issue boarding passes. However, the EY lounge doesn't open until the afternoon (and then I guess it closes again briefly after the first flight departs).

I don't suppose there's any lounge I'll have access to? If all else fails I will use the American Express lounge.

Well you'd be able to use the QF lounge in the domestic terminal on arrival.
I'm not certain QF will check you through, though.
