Not to me. QFF don't mind if you make the points overpaying for insurance, overpaying for foreign currency conversion, overpaying for hotels....

I've managed quite a number of times to find better deals through the Qantas Hotels portal than booking with the hotel direct. Plus no fee for paying by credit card.

Interesting as I've found the opposite. Maybe I'll look again.

I agree. It shows that the FF scheme is a lot different from what it started out as. Considering it's a different group I shouldn't be surprised.

hence why it was renamed to QF Loyalty

Remember folks Loyalty is one of the biggest earners for The QF group, and the flying component is probably less and less a part of that earn, specially when you consider the margins they would have on the toasters and headphones and all that other stuff they flog points for, let alone selling points to the banks and the like.

and also we're the product :)

Good one Pleb Status but it means buying a ticket! I guess that is a good idea at least once every 18 months.

So now I find out they have original QFF card in wallet!
They reckon they don't have the Qantas Cash card?
Is this possible that they would not have been mailed it?
They are currently away from home........can a New Qantas Cash card be sent to them, and if a replacement, is there a cost?

Edit: Is there now a LOAD FEE? to put AU on the card:
Debit Card Load fee1% of the total load amount[SUP]13[/SUP]
Edit2: 1. Load via qantascash.com using Instant Load with a 1% fee, or load fee free using Bank Transfer or BPAY®;

Edit 3: As stated before terrible earn rate now:
  • From 1 July 2017, earn 1 Qantas Point for every $4 spent in Australian dollars

Edit 4:

Both QF and VA are not the best at loyalty.
My AA email,as well as mrsdrrons, comes with the expiry date of you points right next to your point total. This is mrsdrrons.Sure not prominent ink but easily noticed.About time QF and VA did the same.
Miles
expire:
27/May/2018

Now on meeting the challenge....told via phone and email that have to use a QFF "LINKED" Credit card\Qantas Cash card.....to make purchases ie. flights, epicure, hotels????
Is this correct?
Did others find this to be a condition of 2 sources to obtain points?

I've not heard that stipulated before but then again they seem to have the challenge as part of the 'deal' now with more people asking for one so maybe they want to get a bit more out of those trying to regain points.

It is also another way to hopefully ensure your points don't expire again by using a card that accrues points with continued usage.

To be honest I suspect the challenge would not exist if not for the basic obscurity that Qantas have with points expiry dates, both on the web site (You can't without URL changes) and the emails (often do not get read as they look like junk mail to both reader and spam filters).

Yes Serfty on the AA site and the SQ site you are aware of expiry dates.

So original QANTAS Cash Card has to be sent to home address....looks like neighbours will send to family members when it arrives.

Anyone know if cash card comes in normal unmarked envelope or has Qantas marked on our somewhere?

I am pretty sure Qantas mark all of their envelopes, It will more than likely have the qantas logo on it somewhere.

Do you mean the FF card with chip? If so, in a Qantas envelope, just like they send out the FF cards each year. The cash card part has to be activated before use.
