loss of Qantas frequent flyer points

I have sincere doubts if the OP conforms to your grandfather's wisdom from what I have seen thus far: refusal to admit own (self inflicted) errors of ignorance, scornful dismissal of helpful advice on how to avoid the same mistake in the future, disrespectful smearing of others as 'unable to read English'.

As far as I'm concerned, the fewer members of this calibre on this forum, the better it will be.

If the OP had been knowledgeable, he would not have committed this schoolboy error of not reading and following the T & C.

As he is evidently not, he is in no position to heap scorn onto those who had freely and voluntarily given him advice.

He should graciously accept that he was indeed in ignorant of the rules and move on, notching up another 'life experience'.

Take it or Leave it, but please reserve your scornful disrespect for none other than (..... )*

PS: how was my English ?

The OP certainly did not dismiss the helpful advice. Only the posts like this one.

[mod hat]People are starting to become personal here so let's move away from that thanks and stick to the topic.

There is no need for a he said/she said argument[/mod hat]

Moody's post says that what each is saying is 'opinion'

Without clarification that is exactly what it is.

The early post about the activity date being misleading when posted just before the statement from the Terms. The wording of that one clause is not in contention. So saying that someone does seem able to read is pretty aggressive and misses the point entirely.

As has now been confirmed Qantas does not provide any information that allows someone to easily determine if they're active.

The last points change on your activity statement is reliable. The month listed in the top box is usually but not always reliable.

Well, it is a bit of a warning for our friends and family who may not be as familiar with the rules as the typical AFFer. I've just posted a warning on my FB page and hope it helps someone.

Rather than the term "not always reliable" I would substitute "a waste of fracking time and money" and "contractually misleading".

[BTW - I am not getting at you. The annoyance and criticism should be levelled at Qantas, rather than unseemly bickering amongst the minions.]

Yes Lonely Flyer but with savings accounts with our Banks we can get the money deemed inactive back.
With expired frequent flyer points they are probably gone unless there is an eligible transaction that applies in the 18 month period that has not been processed.

Surely you don't have to spoon-feed people that much?? The date of last activity appears on the statement. You add 18 months to that. Simples (as a certain TV ad would say).
I didnt say you have to spoon feed them.

Surely that is a very simple feature to include on the website. No?

And yet some fail to grasp it.

My son did not did not book the classic award flight - I did. My son flew on the classic award flight in April this year, hence using points, hence resetting his activity date. Makes sense to me.

If you are still struggling with the concept then think of it as a dynamic family transfer and redemption in one fell swoop.

Moody, taking a classic award flight doesn't count toward point activity. I know I've put my daughter on a classic award and nothing changed on her account post flight.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

In your opinion. In my opinion the points are "used" when the flight is taken. Until that point they are merely reserved and can be unreserved. Point me to the T&C on the Qantas website that says otherwise.

And we still haven't heard from Red Roo whether this apparent dichotomy between the "Last Activity" date and the "Last Active" date is real or imagined. Or should that be "apparent conflation"?

The points are used when you book the flight as they are deducted from the account at the time. It's the same as paying with $$.. They don't deducted the cash when you take the flight..

I haven't seen a case yet where points were re-instated unless there was missing activity...

Could it be that points have been reinstated (in some cases) but the frequent flyer doesn't want to inform others in such forum?

Just get the person a QCC.
What bills do they regularly pay?
Mobile phone monthly direct debit?
Hey we can even pay ABN tax to ATO with a credit card these days, ...
QCC points then automatically go to activity in QFF account.

I think you'll find no bank in their right mind will give a 16 year old a CC account!

Sorry, yes I was thinking of the EDR CC, yes the QCC is an option because it's not really a credit card.
