The $900 was touch & go for the 80k. What tipped me over the edge is I have a bit of personal travel ove the next year so am using the 10 points/ dollar hotelclub offer. Should net me at least 30 k. None of those points have come through yet though! ( not really interested on the extra card to get a free flight. But if there's more to it than that please let me know )

With a lot of personal travel coming up over the next year, I am very tempted by this card. Are there any referral or promotional offers that could possibly reduce the annual fee? I recall there was a publicly-advertised 50% discount on the annual fee over a year ago, but I'm guessing that offer doesn't come along often...
