Hi All,

Just reviewing out travel plans to Europe booked for May , I have booked my Europe tickets using Qantas points all booked under classic reward flights . There are 3 different booking reference nos. as i booked them as the classic award tickets became available as below
Leg 1 Mel-Sin- Mel
Leg 2 Singapore-Doha- Vienna
Leg 3 Paris-Dubai-Singapore
I understand cancellation charges are 6000 points per passenger , does this mean i will be charged 6000X3 points per passenger or juts 6000 points per passenger for all 3 cancellations.
Can we pay cash instead of points for the cancellations? does anyone know how much do 6000 points translate to in terms of AUD

Thanks

Has anyone received a confirmation for their cancellations? I have a flight today that was cancelled 2 days ago and the PNR is still showing as confirmed on the app - however I cannot access the manage booking page anymore. Would prefer not having to call them and ask.

I've been waiting about 2 weeks now. Something is happening in the background though as the bookings have disappeared in the "My Bookings" page of the website. I'll probably give them another week or so for the crazyness to slow down before I call them

I've been waiting a little over three weeks for 3 seperate PNR's to be refunded. One has refunded the points but not the taxes, the other two have refunded nothing althogh like somebody said above something is happening to the bookings because I keep getting booking change notifications about them. They still appear on the My Bookings list but like others have said when you try and access you get an error.

I'm not in a hurry to get the taxes or points back as there's noting else to use them on so I'll let it go another week or so before calling. I expect they'll only tell me they're busy if I actually get through anyway.

It really doesn't make any difference. Business priority would be on those travelling at the moment. When they shut down in a few days they will have some time maybe.

That's my point - I am happy to wait a few weeks for the refunds but just want to make sure my seat doesn't sit empty while someone else could use it.

No longer get this - Qantas have cancelled all my flights now (Business Classic Reward Flights to Europe), but they are still sitting there greyed out when I log in. When I click CANCEL/VOUCHER is still says that I will be charged 6000PTS to cancel.... Departure is in about 30 days from now. Guess I just wait for them to cancel?

Does anyone have an email address for qantas customer services? I had cancelled my flights 2 weeks ago but its still appearing under "my bookings" . Just want to email qantas the screen shots of the booking cancellations so its on record.

I’ve had same experience. Click on ‘manage’ and if you don’t see more details you’ll know the flights are indeed cancelled. It’ll take time to process qf backend and even more time for points to be returned

A question regarding cancelling flights with Qantas partners ....I have a British Airways flight from London to Sydney that I booked as a QANTAS Classic Reward flight. I have received an email from BA offering voucher.
But what I really want is to retrieve my Qantas FF points . Can I do that or do I have to take a voucher from BA? I'm also unsure whether that voucher will cover the real cost of the points as you have to say you want it before they calculate the voucher and send it to you. Can anyone offer advice?

A thought.
If an award booking was cancelled thru the current process , i can understand that taxes would be refunded but what about points ?
For example, if the original flights cost 90,000 points but an additional , say, 10,000 points were expended to make necessary changes or add a later flight not available with the initial booking , would 90k or 100 k points eventually get back to your account - any experience so far?

I also have this but my booking is over two legs (flying Qatar), however only the second leg shows Cancelled.

Also separate issue, has anyone cancelled flights past 31 May and had the 6000 points waived? I have 6 bookings with two passengers in June but don't really want to be slugged with the points hit (not the end of the world I know).

That’s correct, to me it means no valid booking in their system
I was getting check-in reminders for today's canceled flight, phoned the customer service line last night 20:40 AEDT, got straight through.
She confirmed the booking is cancelled, and processed my points refund (classic rewards booking) there and then. I expect the taxes may take a couple of days to hit my credit card

interesing...

I haven’t received points back, yet

Has anyone had any luck cancelling legs of an already commenced reward trip?

I have a very straight forward domestic return for which I keep pushing out the inbound leg - QF won't let me cancel due to having already flown the outbound leg.

I stand corrected - called to move it again and was directly offered to cancel. 👍

Anyone know what happens if you cancel a Rewards Flight and the credit card you used to pay the original taxes has expired?

It will still be refunded to the same card. You will have to sort/chase with your bank.

Has anyone else received the refund and had points returned for covid cancelled reward flight? I cancelled 5 flights booked for May and June. I did this right at the beginning of their announcement. i have received only the (least expensive) leg . four legs remain outstanding with a total value around $1000 in fees and 300000 points. Have not received email acknowledgment, points or refund to Amex card on these outstanding flights. The other response was prompt (about nine days).

I cancelled Domestic awards flights on 17 March. On 30 March, the points were re-credited to my account, in full (no 6,000 point penalty - thank you Qantas). I did have to call them about it as well as clicking refund in MMB because the flights were today and until Monday I was getting text messages on a regular basis with flight change info and the flights still showed in MMB. Taxes and charges were re-credited to my Amex in 2 slices - 1 lot on 19 March and 1 lot on 31 March. So it took a while, but it did eventually happen (feels like it could be an ad for Pantene)!

I cancelled paid domestic flights at the same time, for a voucher, and that has not yet appeared, despite the flights moving off MMB and departure date having passed. I will give it another few days and then call again to see progress on that. I took screen shots as I don't trust their IT right now (or ever really).
