Flying from London to Warsaw in August and travel agent has given me the option of flying our of Gatwick or London City Airport.

What are the pros and cons?

thanks,

London City is much better option. Its a much smaller airport with less crowds and hence queues. Can generally arrive, check-in, clear security and be at the gate lounge in a matter of minutes.

The downside is there is no BA FLounge, so no JW Blue before flying.

London City is a much nicer place to fly to and from.

Where are you staying in London though since that could affect which is more conveniant to use

If staying in the Victoria , kings cross or London Bridge vicinities, then Gatwick is nice n quick to get to

Agree 100% - personally i'd err on the side of which airport will be easier to get to fro where you are staying.

I assume you are referring to Brighton (Gatwick) airport.

I lived at Canary Wharf so I always found LCY much easier to get to and from. Gatwick is accessible by overland/mainline trains or the Gatwick Express. The Gatwick express cuts the commute down however is susceptible to the failures of the outsourced UK rail network.
If you want to get to LHR I would suggest LCY.
The LCY airport is exclussively business and corporate flights only so it is exponentially more efficient. If you fly out the only bar there (it's ample) has a fantastic view of the BAE146's and the rest of the turbo prop fleet dropping onto the pavement in the middle of the water. Unless you get on one of the new VLM A320's.
Catch the DLR ( Docklands Light Rail) from the airport terminal into the city.

To get to LHR I would suggest pre-booking a transfer from Canary Wharf cars. Otherwise if you are prepared to put the effort into public transport purchase a ticket from the vending machines at the entrance to the DLR platform. Catch the DLR

Walk to London City Airport DLR
Transfer time:1mins
Take Docklands Light Railway towards Bank
at CANNING TOWN STATION: Reduced escalator service until 27 July.
Average journey time: 6 mins
Take Jubilee Line towards Stanmore
Average journey time: 20 mins
At Green Park Underground Station
Take Piccadilly Line towards Heathrow Terminals 1-2-3
Average journey time: 48 mins
Heathrow Terminals 1-2-3 Underground Station

Maybe this helps?
Sorry no time to review burning dinner.

Thanks for that - I will tell agent to confirm the London City Airport Departure.

Just before you do, where are you going to be staying in London? If you are staying anywhere to the west, Gatwick is likely to be more conveniant. LCY is nicer but not worth going out of the way to get to

Dave

If you wanted to use a lounge beforehand, LGW is the way to go. Otherwise I'd definately recommend LCY!

In my experience its always been a breeze to get through; short queues, less crowds and less chance of delays.

Just look out for maintenance work on the DLR, especially on a Sunday morning. I had to get from LHR to LCY at this time a few months ago and took the Tube to Canning Town, expecting to get the DLR for the rest of the way. Turned out there were no trains and an utterly chaotic bus replacement with no signs, nobody knowing which bus went where and not a sign of a cab. Very stressful!

LCY are hot on baggage weight limits so you might want to watch this.

Loved the way the pilot revs up the engines to full and then lets the brakes off - must be something to do with a short runway!

You mean the type without breaks ;) . Maximum performance "take-off" ... full power, then kick in the pitch - short runways is not a concern to Bill  .
