3rd or 4th week October looks good

Of note to this thread, through Apple's 12 days of Christmas app, today's free download is a Lonely Planet guide to the best destination for 2013, and it includes HBA. Might have some good ideas.

Thanks for the background work samh004. It looks like somewhere between mid October and late November to allow the weather to warm up a little.

I am going to guess the federal election will be Aug/Sept as "full-term" rarely means full term these days

The Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 5th November gives the Melbournians a possible long weekend.

The mean maximum temperature for October to December is 17.0, 18.7, 20.3.
The mean minimum temperature for October to December is 7.8, 9.3, 10.8.
The mean rainfall actually has October as the wettest month of the year, along with the mean most days of rainfall.

Can we find some warmer months.

Federal election weekend would be a good weekend to get away so we don't have to see it on TV all weekend.

It has snowed on Christmas day in HBA .....it's a lottery. Don't overplan

My last time in HBA (circa 2006) was mid-October. Arrived Thursday to 33 degrees, hot northerlies and bushfires, only to be advised by the car rental guy that "the snow on Saturday will put the fires out". And snow it did!

Snow will ensure a white AFF gathering and a few snow fights :)

I went to Hobart in mid November and it was very chilly at times. The days themselves were lovely but the night time temps were surprisingly chilly -- and this from a Canberran! Some terrific restaurants and bars though; and MONA down the Derwent is well worth a visit (as is its phenomenal restaurant).

Last weekend in Oct would be out for me, sons' birthday takes precedence.

Only weekend good for me is the last one in November, as I'll be able to freely move from then, and might be visiting some F lounges in the week preceding and following ;)
