Another milestone in the life of the too frequent flyer:

"Current lifetime Status credits: 7,073
You have attained lifetime Silver recognition."

It goes with the 6" deep pile of boarding passes on the shelf.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Congratulations on that milestone :)

Now on and forward to lifetime gold :)

Yes, it certainly seems near impossible, and the thought of all those flights in the future.........aaaaarrrrrrh :x :x :x , then to be faced the challenge of Lifetime Gold, the only worth while LT status.

I guess if travelling J all over the world it would be interesting, but the same old domestic destinations become tiresome, rather quickly.

Well done BOB, I am sure you have earned it!!

JJ in Dongguan China

Congratulations Bob. Great achievement!

It has taken me 3 years to get to 1,000, another 18 years to get Lifetime silver, and then another 21 years to get Lifetime Gold.

That is only 39 years more for Lifetime Gold.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the goalposts will be changed by then.

JohnK, how could you be so cynical :?:

I just hope the goal posts that define the benefits of Lifetime Gold (ie complementary Qantas Club membership) do not change during my lifetime.

Congratulations Bob on reaching the milestone.

Congratulations :). I have 902 SC remaining to achieve this, so expect it will be later this year.

Only real benefit I can think of for this though is never having to pay for a FF membership to keep your points valid. Lifetime WG though will be different (one day maybe), free QP for life :D .

Well done Bob :D . I expect to be there in June; it only took me 11 years to get my first 4000 SC's, then I found AFF & FT; my next 3000 will have taken 19 months!

You too  . I moved house recently, mini discussion with SO regarding what to do with my pile. As I considered her suggestions to be unrealistic at best and physically impossible at worst, I have carfully relocated it! :p

I have grown used to the comments as well. I think SWMBO may have disposed of a few early ones over the years. I just had a look at the bottom of the pile and it looks like 2001 (not that boarding passes have the year marked on them, but it was the trip with AN in Sept 2001 that left me stranded in Kalgoorlie)

Thanks to all for the congratulations. My next trip is to Venezuela, so I might turn it into a RTW and log a few more points.

You mean SG, not WG. Notwithstanding the occasional evidence to the contrary, Golds are only Scum, not Wankers. They only become Wankers when they attain Platinum status. :D

Congratulations!

You've found a community that cares about this sort of thing.

As for boarding passes, I keep them. For one thing they are handy to check over and see if I've been credited with the points.

But what I like doing with them is to stick them in a notebook, along with any other ticket stubs, maps, menus and so on that I collect along the way. A pocket guide to the London Underground, a menu from a Washington cafe, the certificate that says I climbed Baldwin Street. I glue them in as I go along, scribble some notes here and there, and when the years and the flights have merged together, I can go back and there are enough details and dates, colours and images to jog the memory into coughing up all those little associations.

I use Levenger Circa notebooks - they have pages that are detachable, covers that protect and they are robust and practical. I can rearrange pages, add or delete, past in some digital prints.

And perhaps most precious of all are the comments I solicit from people along the way. Here is a paragraph from a steward on my first Pacific flight, describing how after another week of Frankfurt and Beijing he was looking forward to a quiet holiday at home! Or a note by a bored attendant at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, that shows despite the professional bland face she presented to the world, underneath her mind was racjing along at a million miles an hour.

But that's me, and if I ever get to Lifetime anything, I want to have a life I can remember.f

Bob, congratulations for the Lifetime Silver. As you can see, I'm so close I can feel it. Have you received any congratulatory letter from QFF yet?? (I'm just wondering whether there is one...)

Just think how far past this mark you'd have been without crediting some of your more recent flights to your AA Plat membership...but what AA benefits you wouldn't have had  .

Lindsay, thanks for the congrats - more than Qantas have sent so far, but then they are not as quick off the mark as you are. The AA plat was worth having on a couple of occasions (probably helped with the whole family op upgrade JFK to LHR), but my AA status has now dropped to Gold - how time flies.

In fact, if I didn't also do enough flying with *A to keep elite status there as well I might be halfway to lifetime gold.

Ah yes, my wife has dropped to AA Gold after failing to do the required miles, but AA Gold for a year will do nicely. I failed to do an AA Gold Challenge on my AA/AS flights in Jan/FEb (because I didn't think they'd all post correctly) ...

Would seem the benefits of your family AA Plat membership was well worth it. To keep Elite status on 3 FF programs, now that is a feat only done by one person I know (Kiwi Flyer)

Well I've 'achieved' 4000 SC as of yesterday only took 3 years and 2 months however I think the remaining 3000 SCs will take alot longer.

As for LT SG it seems like a long long way away. Not sure how much life I'll have left if I get there especially since I mostly only do Y Dom flights, however the benefits of LT SG would be very sweet 8)

it matters not what you achieve, they will just keep changing the goal posts i believe.
