Reward stays now count towards the 1000 nights.

or you can qualify with 2 million base points

plus your 10 years as diamond

Still a big ask and one that I personally wouldn't bother trying too hard to achieve. My stay level will likely see the 10 years at diamond achieved (I think I'm now at 6), but I'm pretty confident nowhere near 1000 nights or 2m base points. Seems to me they may be realising that not too many of their diamonds are that interested in trying to attain.

Is the reward night count retrospective, I wonder?

Is Hilton HHonors revenue-based with regards to earning points? If so, I'd love to know what that 2 million base points equates to in dollar spend.

us$200 000 spread over ten years which means 1.67 times the annual diamond requal rate on base points (if my math is correct).

USD$20,000 a year seems an acceptable number to spend for 10 years to gain the benefit.
Sorry SamH004, I just liked your post but then read it more carefully and promptly "unliked" it. I think US$20k each and every year for 10 years is not acceptable. I don't think the benefits of diamond is worth chasing that (given one can requal diamond fairly easily for less than a quarter of that rate, so therefore possibly 30 years worth of diamond being overspent), but that may be just me! Obviously for those already spending that on stays, it'd be a different story.

The requirement is to spend $200,000 over the life of your membership - however long that is.

The only 10 year requirements relates to holding Diamond for that period of time (and they don't need to be consecutive years).

Yep. I was referencing my own situation, where the life of membership will basically be the 10 years of diamond. Also, IIRC, there was no guarantee that this is ongoing. Originally it was worded like it was a benefit for the here and now.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Will probably get there now that they have added base points as a qualification criteria. I'm around 200k base a year already, but haven't been diamond for 10 years yet.

Doubt I'd make the 1000 nights anywhere near as fast.

It will make it easier for us rather than the 1000 night criteria, but probably not within the 10 years. I wonder if we can contact them for a total US$ spend record like we can for number of nights? I might give it a go, as I have no idea what I've spent with them.

Note that those are separate criteria. You can get the 2 mil over 200 years if you live that long, but you also need 10 years of diamond. I think I've only had about 6 or so, so far.

I think we could, maybe email the diamond desk?

I emailed Hilton about my lifetime status. They took about 10ish days to get back but I am still quite far off. 4 years diamond, just over 1 million base points ad only 300ish eligible nights. At this point I think it's probably worth maintaining diamond just to hit lifetime status (could probably make it to 2 mil BP with a few good Rangali and Niseko stays and then hit 10 years via a CC).
