Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Also on Tuesday 27 October, A332 VH-EBK ex SIN (Monday 26) as QF52 arrived in BNE at 0541 hours, 14 minutes early. It then operated domestic flight QF519, the 0910 hours that arrived SYD at 1148, three minutes late.

It then transferred to the SYD international terminal and is on QF41, the usually punctual 1425 hours SYD-CGK that was up up and away at 1524. This means expected gate arrival in Jakarta at 1858, 58 minutes late, delaying the return redeye QF42, the 1950 hours likely to depart at least 35 late.

Presumably these domestic to international transfers of aircraft are unavoidable - the base is in SYD, not BNE or MEL - but they add a level of complexity and often cause compounding delays.

On Tuesday 27 October, QF19 arrived MNL at 2028 hours, 178 minutes late. The redeye QF20 (the 1920 hours) pointed skywards at 2235.

Wednesday 28 arrival is shortly at 0907 hours, 147 minutes behind schedule, with A333 VH-QPF to form QF23, the 1025 hours SYD-BKK that won't be able to punctually push back.

A388 VH-OQA on QF7002 (a replacement for a cancelled QF2, as noted above) is arriving SIN today at about 1656, 36 minutes late.

In more on 28 October 2026, QF1, the timetabled 1630 hours SYD-SIN-LHR is not expected to push back until 2100 hours mid evening. Aircraft is A388 VH-OQL that's been in Sydney since arriving at 1733 hours, 183 minutes late as QF64 ex JNB.

Even if 'the 64' had been punctual, a two hour turnaround between it and QFI (scheduled 1430 to 1630 hours) is not normal.

QF1257 BNE-MEL sched for 1020 today 29/10 has been having big problems: first pushed back to 1100, then 1400, now 1500!. Stated reason is "engineering issues". As you may guess I am on it, and am not filled with confidence. Ah well, the BNE dom J lounge is not bad at all...

QF1257 was cancelled yesterday but different aircraft

Also on Thursday 29 October, QF7, the often tardy 1305 hours SYD to long distant DFW is expected to push back at 1700 hours. Aircraft is A388 VH_OQH that arrived SYD at gate at 1454 hours, 24 late as QF64 ex JNB.

QFi must be an A380 short as again, it's not normal for a scheduled 1430 hours arrival to form a 1305 hours departure.

Yesterday's QF1 that took off from Sydney at 2103 hours is due into LHR's gate today (29) at about 0939 hours, 204 minutes behind schedule.

And just now I am advised that it is now going at 1630!!! A 6 hour delay for a 2+ hour domestic flight...insane. The QF people I speak are sympathetic but say there isn't much they can do as loads on other flights are heavy. I have suggested unsubtly that substantial sweeteners are called for.
